Louisiana Scouting Director

As we head into the last couple of weeks of the calendar year, we want to highlight the most viewed profiles of 2025.  Today, we continue our countdown with the #5 spot, which belongs to former St. Frederick standout William Patrick.

Scouting Report

2/19/25

With the staff traveling up north for the Trey Altrick tournament, we had the opportunity to see the state's #1 player in two separate looks last weekend.  The first thing that stands out with Patrick is his 6'2" 200 lbs. frame, which is noticeably more physical from the summer.  He had three hits in our two looks over the weekend, all three of them singles, with one back up the middle and two to the pull-side gap.  It's a classic right-handed set-up from a squared off an athletic stance and he stays well-connected to contact.  He also looked to be more aggressive and on-time swinging at the breaking ball, which is something we're sure that he'll see plenty of this spring. With several MLB scouts in attendance for his game last Wednesday against Mangham and even a cross-checker or two, the real question for Patrick becomes will he turn down a likely seven-figure signing bonus to join the Tigers next fall in Baton Rouge, LA.

3/27/24

Patrick made a name for himself at last summer's Future Games and looked awfully good last week in our Week 6 Game of the Week against Sterlington. The LSU recruit is standing more upright in his stance now, which looks to be a good adjustment, as it seems to really be allowing his athleticism to play throughout his swing. In his first at-bat, he jumped all over a belt-high FB for a no-doubt two run HR to left field that put the Warriors up 3-0. He then drilled a CB down in the zone in his second at-bat right at the shortstop, and finished the night 1-3 with the HR, 2 RBI, R, and a SB. His 6'2" 197 lbs. frame certainly projects and when you're talking about tools, he's got the best collection of them in the state with his 6.42 speed and plus arm from the OF up to 92 mph. If he continues to trend the way that he's been trending, then he'll have the attention of MLB scouts starting this coming summer.
