Quick Hits: 2026 Lake Charles Rising Stars ID

Alex Armand
Louisiana Scouting Director

Moss Bluff, LA - On Saturday, January 3, 2026, the Prep Baseball Louisiana staff traveled Sam Houston High School to host our first rising stars event of the year with our Lake Charles Rising Stars ID, which featured over 25 players in the state's 2030-2031 classes.  Each participant went through a pro-style workout that consisted of running a laser-timed 60 yard dash using Vald Performance, defensive evaluations, and batting practice using Trackman Baseball.  Each pitcher threw a bullpen with Trackman Baseball running to receive all of their pitching data and metrics.  Below, we take a look at some of the standout performers from Saturday's event.

Ayden Barnes SS / 2B / Tioga High School, LA / 2030

Saturday’s event proved to be one of the strongest Rising Stars ID events we’ve hosted, and Barnes was one of the clear standouts who stole the show. A switch-hitter, the Alexandria, LA native showed a smooth, repeatable swing from both sides of the plate, pairing good rhythm and timing with a flat, efficient path that produced consistent line-drive contact to both gaps.

Defensively, Barnes displayed advanced infield instincts, soft hands, and a quick, clean release, along with an accurate arm across the diamond. Beyond the tools, his energy and passion for the game were evident throughout the workout. Barnes plays with an infectious smile, and that love for the game—combined with his skill set—makes him an exciting long-term follow over the next several years.

Braydon Peveto SS / 3B / Sulphur, LA / 2030

The Sulphur, Louisiana product emerged as another standout middle infielder from last Saturday’s Rising Stars ID event and looks to have a bright future ahead. A left-handed hitter, Peveto starts from a slightly open, upright stance and gets his front foot down early with a simple, controlled load and stride. He features a smooth, efficient stroke, keeping his hands tight and working inside the baseball to contact with uphill extension and a two-handed finish.

Peveto showed an advanced ability to drive the ball to the opposite field, a skill that’s uncommon for hitters at his age. Defensively, he flashed crisp, clean infield actions, further cementing himself as a name to follow closely over the next few years.

Tyler Simon C / SS / Sulphur, LA / 2030

Simon was another strong performer and future Sulphur Golden Tornado who impressed at Saturday’s Lake Charles Rising Stars ID event. He hits from an athletic, well-balanced stance and uses a simple, efficient load and stride with no wasted movement, allowing him to be exceptionally precise with the barrel. The result was a steady stream of hard line drives up the middle.

Defensively, Simon showed smooth infield actions with soft hands and moved well laterally to both his glove and arm side, further reinforcing his well-rounded skill set and making him another intriguing follow moving forward.
