Summer Update Missouri Uncommitted Spotlight: 2027 First Basemen

With the release of the latest update to our state rankings for the 2027 class, it’s a great time to take a closer look at some of the top uncommitted prospects in the class. Only a few months have passed since recruiting restrictions were lifted on the 2027s as they began their junior years, so there are numerous big names left on the board. Over the next few days, our staff will highlight five of the top prospects at each position, with a short breakdown of each athlete. First, we'll look at the state's top five uncommitted first basemen in the class.

Matthew Bell 1B / RHP / Valley Park, MO / 2027Rankings StateRank: 33 / POS: 1
Bell is one of the most strong and physical athletes in the class, with impressive power numbers across the board to back it up. Defensively, he can sling it across the infield at 92 mph, while tossing it in from the outfield at 95 mph. At the plate, we've seen him produce exit velocities as high as 101.6 mph. |

Payne Kent 1B / RHP / Lafayette Sr. High, MO / 2027Rankings StateRank: 61 / POS: 2
Another prospect with plenty of raw power to stick in the heart of a lineup at the next level, Kent utilizes an agressive swing to produce some of the best power numbers in the state, topping out with an EV of 102.5 mph while averaging an eye-catching 99.7 mph. |

Sean Creasey 1B / 3B / Aurora, MO / 2027Rankings StateRank: 62 / POS: 3
Creasey is one of if not the best athletes in the state at his position, with a rare blend of strength and speed as a first baseman. We've clocked him a 6.73 in the 60, to go along with solid arm strength, tossing it around the infield at 87 mph. At the dish, he continues the trend of prospects on this list with triple digit max exit velocities, topping out at 100.2 mph. |

Henry Ladenberger 1B / 3B / Chaminade, MO / 2027Rankings StateRank: 68 / POS: 4
Ladenberger is a physical corner infield prospect, with some nice present power. At the plate, he's put up exit velocities as high as 100.6 mph, and the strength translates to his defensive game, where we've gunned him at 85 mph throwing it across the diamond. |

Ryan Whitworth 1B / LHP / Duchesne, MO / 2027Rankings StateRank: 74 / POS: 5
Whitworth has some nice present pop from the left side, and should continue to see his numbers improve across the board as he continues to develop into his physical frame. The raw power is evident, with exit velocities as high as 96.5 mph. |
