Prep Baseball Mississippi: Year In Review
January 2, 2026
MISSISSIPPI - 2025 proved to be another landmark year for baseball across the Magnolia State, highlighted by championship runs, national exposure, and elite talent continuing to emerge at every level. From dominant postseason performances to record-setting individual moments, Mississippi baseball once again showcased its depth and impact on the national stage.
At the high school level, champions were crowned across both MHSAA and MAIS classifications. Madison Central (7A), Saltillo (6A), Lafayette (5A), West Lauderdale (4A), Seminary (3A), East Union (2A), and West Union (1A) claimed MHSAA state titles, while Presbyterian Christian (6A), Magnolia Heights (5A), Tri-County Academy (4A), Prairie View Academy (3A), and Wilkinson County Christian (2A) hoisted MAIS championships. Each title run reflected the competitive balance and high level of play across the state.
The 2025 Magnolia State Games, held at Freedom Ridge Park, further highlighted the strength of Mississippi talent. With more than 100 players in attendance and over 30 commitments coming out of the event, the showcase once again served as a proving ground for prospects at every level. The event continued to reinforce its reputation as one of the premier scouting opportunities in the region, while the Magnolia State Games has had over 50 players go on to the Prep Baseball Future Games.
Mississippi’s presence was also felt on the professional stage during the 2025 MLB Draft. Joseph Parker became a first-round selection by the Toronto Blue Jays, while Landon Harmon was taken by the Washington Nationals, Talon Haley by the Los Angeles Angels, and Jamaurion McQueen by the Texas Rangers. Jacob Parker, selected by the Arizona Diamondbacks, elected not to sign and instead headed to Mississippi State, adding another impact piece to the college ranks. Several of these names, including Parker and Haley, previously showcased their skills at the Prep Baseball Super 60, underscoring the event’s national significance.
On the national showcase circuit, Team Mississippi delivered an impressive performance at the Prep Baseball Future Games, finishing 3-0 with wins over Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Louisiana. Jones Roberson and Landon Swinney earned Team MVP honors, while the event has resulted in 16 commitments from Mississippi players and over 450 total commitments overall across the country, further validating the state’s talent pipeline.
The year was capped by a historic moment at the Prep Baseball All-American Game, where Eric “EJ” Booth Jr. of Oak Grove High School made national headlines. Booth set a new All-American Game record by running a 6.25-second 60-yard dash, cementing his status as one of the premier athletes in the country and providing a fitting exclamation point to an unforgettable year for Mississippi baseball.
