ACC 2019 Recruiting Classes (COASTAL)
December 6, 2018

Total Commits: 15
National Top 500: 4
Immediate Impact Player: Sammy Siani
Class Sleeper: Marcus Johnson
Overview:
Coach Chris Pollard and the Blue Devils’ staff have hit the recruiting trail hard since coming to campus, and there efforts are clearly being felt nationally after a Super Regional run in 2018. The 2019 reruiting class has a strong chance to continue the successful run with its quality talent and depth.

Sam Siani OF / LHP / William Penn Charter, PA / 2019Rankings StateRank: 2 / POS: 1 OverallRank: 39 / POS: 5 PBR Draft BoardRank: 94 / POS: 14 HS Draft 100Rank: 39 / POS: 5
OF Sammy Siani has been one of the biggest risers as a prospect in the entire country. The hard-hitting, left-handed outfielder has the ability to drive the ball with gap to gap power, and has showcased some increasing power to the pull side. Aggressive at the plate, Siani has the potential to be an immediate impact player in the program although he will certainly garner plenty of draft buzz throughout the spring, especially after scouts were able to watch him all of last year while he was playing with his brother, Mike, who was drafted and signed in the fourth round. |

Chad Knight RHP / 3B / Staples , CT / 2019While his position may bring about questions, there is no denying the powerful, right-handed bat that C/INF Chad Knight will bring with him to Durham. He exhibits power to all fields with the natural ability to get the ball in the air. Plus, he may also be able to provide some depth in the Blue Devils’ bullpen in his time on campus. |

Marcus Johnson RHP / Etiwanda, CA / 2019Rankings StateRank: 79 / POS: 22
Long-limbed RHP Marcus Johnson may have the highest upside in Duke’s 2019 recruiting class. His 6-foot-5, 175-pound frame still has plenty of room to develop and add strength, and as it does, the Blue Devils may see him make a big jump. Also a talented basketball player, Johnson’s athleticism allows him to easily repeat his arm slot with a simple, polished delivery, and his quality three-pitch mix will be given a boost as he matures and spends more time on the mound. |
CLASS KEYS:
Siani headlines this class a future, potential game-changing bat in the ACC, so getting him onto campus would be a big success for Duke. Along with the upside that Johnson exhibits, right-handed pitchers, Billy Seidl, Colten Smith, and Thomas Keehn each have aggressive, power fastballs that may allow them to contribute immediately, especially out of the bullpen.
