A pair of seniors RHP Shane Stuchell (Penn-Trafford) and LHP Maclean Maund (Hempfield Area) locked up in a pitcher's duel on Tuesday with Maund, a Seton Hill recruit, picking up the win.
Maund worked six scoreless innings while allowing four hits. He struck out nine and walked two before handing the ball to Bobby Kusinski for the one inning save.
Stuchell allowed just one run on the evening in going the distance. A two-out single by senior Luke Fabac in the bottom of the first plated the game's only run and turned out to be the game winner for Penn-Trafford.
Hempfield Area 2020 RHP/OF Tyler Wiederstein, a Michigan commit, was the lone player on either team to record multiple hits going 2-for-3 on the night.
Penn-Trafford improved to 9-0 with the win and will look to remain perfect when they travel to Plum on Friday.
Hempfield Area fell to 6-3 with the loss. The Spartans will look to get back into the win column when they travel to Norwin on Friday.
