2025 Marucci Elite ATX Scout Day: Quick Hits

On Saturday, October 4th, the PB Texas staff traveled to Lehman High School in Katy, TX, to host the 2025 Marucci Elite ATX Scout Day.
More than 90 players made their way to Lehman High School this past weekend and participated in a pro-style workout, gathering unrivaled access to data through our state-of-the-art tech partners, as well as in-depth scouting analysis from our Prep Baseball Texas staff.
We have already released a Statistical Analysis from the event, highlighting the top performers in the more traditional stat categories.
Today, we will take a look at the top overall performers from the event that stood out to our scouting staff.
QUICK HITS
Riley Thompson | INF | Rouse | 2029
Already a physical player with room to continue building strength over the next few years. Shows good infield actions with mobile, athletic feet and the ability to throw from multiple slots. Arm topped at 76 mph across the diamond with more strength to come. Stood out during BP, showing big bat speed and true pull-side pop. Turns the barrel aggressively and drives the ball with authority. Still maturing as a hitter but has the ingredients to become an elite offensive player in his class.
RJ Grant | 2B/3B | Samuel Clemens | 2026
Physical build with a prototypical corner infield frame at 6’3” 215 lbs. Showed 89 mph arm strength across the diamond with a clean stroke and carry. Can quicken transfer and release. Offensively shows balance in setup with present pop and bat strength. Continued focus on staying through the front side will help unlock more power and plate coverage. High-upside infielder with strength and projection.
Ryan Roberts | SS | Lehman | 2027
Solid, athletic build at 6’0” 180 lbs. Smooth infield actions with quick feet and arm strength up to 85 mph across the diamond. Throws show life and carry. Offensively profiles with gap-to-gap pop, quick hands, and potential to generate more bat speed with a grip adjustment. Balanced player with tools and a bright future as both the body and swing continue to mature.
Jirah Anzaldua | 1B/OF/LHP | Copperas Cove | 2028
Well-rounded player with ability to contribute on both sides of the ball. In the outfield, moves well with quick feet and solid arm speed. Soft hands at 1B with quick transfer. LHH with a flat path, quick hands, and line-drive approach; contact-over-power profile now with G2G ability. Mishits are weight-shift related. On the mound, works from an over-the-top slot with a FB at 77–79 mph showing ride (20 IVB). Developing CH at 73–74 mph. Balanced two-way prospect with pitchability and offensive feel.
Jordan Owens | SS/RHP | Glenn | 2029
Athletic defender with quick feet, clean actions, and a fast arm. Ball carries across the diamond, topping 84 mph. Can throw from multiple angles. Offensively shows quick hands, a balanced swing, and gap-to-gap approach. Still physically maturing, but athleticism and quickness already translate to sneaky pop. On the mound, sat 79–81 and touched 82 mph. Spins a 12–6 CB at 2500 rpm with feel. Talented two-way with projection on both sides.
Jayden Martinez | RHP | Buda Johnson | 2028
Works with a side rock step, medium/high leg lift, and low three-quarter slot. FB and sinker both 78–80 mph with strong ASR, missing barrels consistently. Slider at 65–67 mph with 12” of horizontal break shows sweeping action. Arm speed present with movement traits that fit a sinker/slider profile. Projection arm with foundation to build on.
William Brandt | OF/2B | New Braunfels | 2029
Athletic player with quick hands and a short, flat path. Stays inside the baseball and uses the whole field. Produced a line-drive one-hopper to RF and a double off the LCF wall with multiple RBIs on the day. Gap-to-gap pop with consistent barrel control. Offensive performer with quality in-game at-bats.
Parker McCooey | SS | Pieper | 2029
Clean infield actions with good footwork, angles, and a quick release. Impressive in-game defender—made a sliding play up the middle and completed the throw to first. Offensively shows quick hands and feel for the barrel; can lengthen at times. Gap-to-gap power now with more to come as he matures. Gamer who impacts both sides.
Caiden Sotello | C/RHP | Boerne Champion | 2029
Big, solid frame with competitive makeup. On the mound, sat 76–78 mph from an over-the-top slot, inducing weak contact (2 rollovers, 1 strikeout). Curveball in the mid-60s with proper rotation; CH 71–72 mph with fade. Strike thrower with feel for three pitches. Offensively, recorded two doubles (one over LF, one to LCF gap). Consistent hard contact and physical presence; two-way follow with poise and energy.
Samuel Pierro | SS | Liberty Hill | 2028
Athletic mover with quick feet and smooth infield actions. Arm shows life with 79 mph velocity across the diamond. Quick transfer with accuracy. Offensively, shows gap-to-gap pop, quick hands, and some present strength. Can come across the ball at times; improved weight transfer will unlock more consistent barrel accuracy. Solid all-around player with upward trajectory.
Cade Goddard | OF | Round Rock | 2026
Athletic mover with a 6.80 60 time; speed translates in-game. Quick release and arm speed from the OF with accurate, carried throws. Offensively, uses a wide base with minimal movement and rhythmic hands. Quick to the ball with line-drive contact. Athletic, projectable player who’s not yet reached physical ceiling.
Gadiel Flores | RHP | Lehman | 2026
Athletic arm with advanced feel and projection. Compact, repeatable delivery with high leg lift and H¾ slot. Fastball 84–86 mph with ASR and life. CB is a two-plane pitch with depth and sweep; late action and feel. True SL shows tight, late sweep. Strong mix of stuff with velocity still climbing. High-upside arm with traits and athleticism.
Jacob Cruz | RHP | Canyon | 2027
Arm strength is the calling card. Athletic mover with H¾ slot, high lift, and slight coil. Occasionally lands closed causing misfires. Fastball sat 85–86 mph, T87, with more in the tank. Slider shows sweeping, late break and tunnels well off the FB. Changeup flashes ASR and softness. High-upside arm with traits and velocity projection.
