Prep Baseball Texas Staff

On Saturday, September 19th, the PB Texas staff traveled to Weatherford College in Weatherford, TX, to host the Texas State Games: Upperclass, an invite-only event for the class of 2026 and 2027.

More than 100 players made their way to Weatherford College this past weekend and participated in a pro-style workout as well as gameplay, gathering unrivaled access to data through our state-of-the-art tech partners, while receiving in-depth scouting analysis from our Prep Baseball Texas staff.

We have already begun releasing statistical leaderboards from the event, and today we will continue our post-event rollout with our scouting takeaways on some of the event's top pitchers.

QUICK HITS

Elijah Webber | RHP | Boyd | 2026 | Richmond commit

At 6’2” 201 lbs, Webber has a projectable frame with plenty of upside. He sat 90–92 mph with true spin on the fastball and consistently pounded the zone. The curveball showed true 12–6 shape at 75–76 mph with spin around 2200 rpm. He impressed on both sides of the ball at the TX State Upperclass Games.


Jake Berry | LHP | Clear Lake | 2027 | texas Tech commit

Berry features an easy delivery with an aggressive mindset. His fastball sat 85–87 mph with arm-side run. The breaking ball played as a slurve with sweep and depth, spinning at 2600 rpm. His delivery has some deception, making all pitches play up. He commanded both pitches well and is working to add a changeup to the arsenal.


Landon Walker | RHP | Prosper | 2027

Walker profiles as a sinker/slider type with plenty of upside. His fastball sat 86–88 mph with good arm-side run down in the zone. His cutter was his best secondary, sitting 79–81 mph with sharp, late action. The slider was a bit softer at 73–76 mph with some sweep. He showed command, feel, and body awareness throughout his outing.


Kayden Mansell | RHP | Lake Ridge | 2026

Mansell has an athletic arm working from a high three-quarter slot. He touched 89 mph at the TX State Upperclass Games with more in the tank. He commanded four pitches, highlighted by a cutter at 79–81 mph with sharp bite. He struck out three in two clean innings of work.


Landon Carlisle | RHP | Weatherford | 2026

Carlisle was one of the standout arms at the TX State Upperclass Games. He retired all seven hitters he faced, striking out four while inducing weak contact. His fastball sat 86–88 mph, and his ability to spin a quality slider (79–80 mph with sweep) and land it in fastball counts allowed his FB to play up significantly.


Jamie Chipman | RHP | Academy | 2027 | Baylor commit

Chipman brings a strong frame at 6’4” 200 lbs with athleticism and present strength. His fastball worked 88–90 mph, touching 91, with downhill tilt and some sink. He showed feel for a slider at 77–78 mph, spinning near 2100 rpm. With his size and athleticism, there is significant upside and projection remaining.


Branden Daniel | RHP | East Central | 2026

Daniel works with an effortless delivery and a full arm path. In two innings he struck out five hitters. His fastball sat 89–90 mph with run, and his slider at 78 mph spun at 2400 rpm with consistent shape. He also mixed in a changeup at 76–77 mph with depth, rounding out a quality three-pitch mix.


Dominic Naylor | RHP | Cedar Park | 2027

Naylor showed a solid build and athletic arm at the TX State Upperclass Games. He mixed a three-pitch arsenal—FB, SL, and CH—all with quality actions. His fastball sat 86–87 mph with command. The slider had depth at 73–75 mph, while the changeup sat 80–81 with late fade. Also showed potential as a two-way player.


Andrew Alvarado | RHP | Victoria East | 2027

Alvarado’s fastball sat 87–88 mph with true spin and some downhill tilt. He spun a breaking ball at 2300 rpm with depth, showing increasing feel as the outing progressed. He stood out on both sides of the ball during the weekend.


Carter Hoffman | LHP | Wichita Falls Memorial | 2026

Hoffman is a tough lefty to square up, with everything showing action. Early in his outing he pitched off his CB (73–75 mph) and SL (77–79 mph), both spinning in the 2400–2500 rpm range. By the second inning he found his fastball feel, and the three-pitch mix led to three strikeouts.


Ben Brown | RHP | Liberty Christian | 2027

Brown, at 6’1” 223 lbs, is a strike thrower with impressive arm speed. His fastball sat 88–89 mph with arm-side run. He paired it with a firm slider at 83–84 mph, showing cutter-like action. The SL has the potential to gain depth as he develops.


Jackson Fetters | RHP | Homeschool | 2027

Fetters showed swing-and-miss stuff at the TX State Upperclass Games, striking out four in two innings. His fastball sat 86–88 mph, touching 89, with arm-side run. He added a sinker at 84–85 mph with more depth than the FB. Paired with his slider and changeup, Fetters proved difficult to barrel up.


Bryson Buckert | RHP | Argyle | 2026

Buckert has a quick, athletic arm with huge upside. His ability to spin the baseball stood out, with his FB at 84–85 mph spinning 2400 rpm and a sharp SL at 76–77 mph spinning 3100 rpm. With added strength and continued development, he projects to be a high-end arm.


Roman Martinez | RHP | United South | 2026

Martinez brings a quick, projectable arm, sitting 87–89 mph with downhill plane, arm-side run, and late life. He spun a curveball at 2600 rpm in the 73–75 range with 11–5 shape. Commanded both pitches well and showed upside.


Ryan Kume | RHP | Hays | 2027

Kume impressed with pitchability, arm strength, and room for growth. He sat 85–87 mph with a compact delivery and good tempo. His slider had depth at 72–74 mph, spinning at 2700 rpm, while the changeup sat 74–75 with arm-side fade and strong sell from his arm speed. Quality showing on both sides of the ball.


Bayler Schilling | RHP | Canyon | 2026

Schilling stands 6’3” 189 lbs with a long arm path and good arm speed. He recorded two strikeouts with a fastball at 84–86 mph showing tilt. His slider worked 75–76 mph with room to tighten and sharpen as he develops.


Josh Horvath | RHP | Round Rock | 2026

Horvath posted some of the highest velocities at the TX State Upperclass Games. With an athletic arm, his four-seam fastball sat 92–94 mph, touching 95. He paired it with a breaking ball at 77–79 mph and flashed a promising changeup at 85–87 mph, which may be his best secondary pitch at present.


Brayden Hernandez | LHP | Montgomery | 2027

Hernandez struck out three in two innings while showing command of four pitches. He worked with a clean, repeatable delivery from a high three-quarter slot. Fastball sat 82–84 mph with projection. The CB spun at 2400 rpm at 72–73 mph, while his best pitch was the SL at 79 mph with late depth.


Daniel Womack | RHP | Lake Travis | 2027

Womack’s 6’2” 195 lb frame, compact arm action, and hand speed give him a promising foundation. His FB sat 86–87 mph, paired with a breaking ball at 74–76 mph spun at 2200 rpm. He commanded both pitches and showed projection.


Cameron Ireland | RHP | Keller | 2026

Ireland has a big, sturdy frame with a smooth delivery and clean arm action. His fastball sat 85–87 mph with sink down in the zone. He spun a curveball at 75–77 mph with depth (2250 rpm) and added a splitter around 76 mph with arm-side action. A true strike thrower with clear upside.
