We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Alabama. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews and by continuing our scheduled podcasts and releasing our preseason top-10 rankings in each AHSAA classification.
Please keep checking back throughout the season as we will be your one-stop shop for everything related to high school baseball across the state.
Each week we will be releasing our Players of the Week, updating the top-10 ranks in each AHSAA classification, as well updating our Power 25 overall rankings. One thing, especially, you don’t want to miss are our scheduled podcasts with guests from across the state, as well as the recaps and previews of the big games we’re covering.

TEAM OUTLOOK
Dothan enters the 2026 season coming off a 20-13 campaign in 2025 that ended with a first-round playoff loss to Fairhope in Class 7A. Offensively, the Wolves were one of the more productive teams in the classification, posting a .302 team batting average, stealing 104 bases, and averaging 6.8 runs per game. With a large portion of that production returning, along with significant experience on the mound, Dothan heads into 2026 focused on building off last season’s offensive success while competing in a challenging 7A Area 3.
The lineup is anchored by a senior-heavy core that brings proven production. C Perrin Gomez (2026) returns after earning All-State honors and hitting .395, providing a steady presence behind the plate and in the heart of the order. At the top of the lineup, INF Emmanuel Lewis (2026) returns after hitting .336 with a .470 OBP while serving as the team’s leadoff hitter across 102 at-bats. 1B Graham Davis (2026) adds middle-of-the-order production after finishing with 11 extra-base hits, 26 RBIs, and a .436 OBP. The infield also brings back INF Carter Richards (Southern Union CC, 2026), while SS/RHP Braddoc Jenkins (2026) returns after posting a 2.70 ERA across 24 innings on the mound while also contributing defensively up the middle. OF Gabe Yelverton (2026) and OF/RHP Jacoby Smith (2027) provide additional depth and experience in the outfield. On the mound, Dothan returns multiple arms who logged meaningful innings in 2025. RHP Edmund Cody (Pensacola State CC, 2026) returns as a key piece of the rotation after working up to 91 mph. RHP Tripp Benton (2027) returns after going 4-0 in 31 innings last season, while LHP Aaron Walker (2026) posted a .191 batting average against across 27 innings. Jenkins (2026) and Smith (2027) add further depth, giving the Wolves multiple options to navigate a demanding area schedule. Underclass contributors also factor into the 2026 outlook, highlighted by C/3B Hunter House (2028), who is expected to contribute both in the lineup and defensively as the season progresses.
Offense and experience define Dothan’s identity entering 2026. With much of the lineup returning and a pitching staff that brings back several contributors, the Wolves expect to remain competitive throughout the season. As head coach Hayes Shepard noted, the group returns significant offensive production and is made up of players who have worked hard throughout the fall and approach the season with a gritty mindset. With returning experience and proven production, Dothan enters the 2026 season aiming to take another step forward in Class 7A.
