Birmingham Preseason ID: Event Preview
January 2, 2026
BIRMINGHAM, AL - The Birmingham Preseason ID is set to take place this Sunday, January 4th, at StrongBox Indoor Facility in Birmingham, Alabama. The event will feature a talented group of prospects from the 2026-2030 classes across the state, each looking to showcase the strides they’ve made over the offseason as they prepare for the upcoming spring high school season.
The Preseason ID series plays a critical role on the Prep Baseball calendar, serving as an early identification point ahead of the AHSAA season. These events allow our scouting staff, and college recruiters, to establish a strong follow list entering the spring. Historically, the preseason has produced some of the most impressive performances of the year, as players arrive fresh off structured, targeted offseason training programs, often resulting in measurable gains across the board. With updated evaluations and metrics, this setting provides a prime opportunity for prospects to strengthen their Prep Baseball profiles and position themselves for invitations to premier summer events such as the Yellowhammer State Games, Southeast Super Sophomore Games, Prep Baseball Future Games, and more.
Our staff strategically hosts Preseason ID events across the state with the goal of identifying emerging prospects who have capitalized on the offseason, while also re-evaluating known players trending upward. Complete player profiles, including tech metrics, statistics, video, and detailed scouting reports, will be published on the Prep Baseball Report website, which is followed by more than 1,000 college programs nationwide.

Players' body composition will be officially measured using state-of-the-art, medical-grade technology that will provide precise insights into height, weight, skeletal muscle mass, BMI and more. Players will step on scales using bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA), a method for measuring body composition, including muscle mass, body fat, and total body water. Our scales will then produce several metrics giving insight into the prospect’s body composition. Height will be measured using a digital stadiometer to get precise height measurements. Grip Strength Hitters' grip strength will be tested using a digital hydraulic dynamometer. Grip strength is an essential component to bat strength and controlling the barrel. Hitters will be put through a max strength test on both hands, shedding light on hand strength and potential power and bat control down the road. |
