Uncommitted Spotlight: Brayan Espinoza

Brett Thorney
State Scouting Director

We continue our coverage of uncommitted players, spotlighting them to help maximize their exposure and assist them in the recruiting process. Today, we look at 2021 SS Brayan Espinoza (Nogales).

Espinoza was a recent stand out at our 2021 Top Prospect Games on June 23rd. He quickly established himself as one of the top uncommitted infield prospects in Arizona. Showing some all around tools & versatility, there is a lot about his game that can help a team. He showed soft twitchy hands defensively with a strong arm across the diamond. He ran a 7.24 60-yard dash but his speed played a little faster in game, covering some ground defensively. He also showed some versatility this HS season playing some 3B where the arm & athleticism plays. Offensively, he shows an above average hit tool with consistent barrel. Plays the game with a gritty competitive attitude. Uncommitted INF prospect that should be followed.

5-foot-11 175-pounds, large athletic build, proportional compact frame, present athleticism & strength. Ran 7.26 60-yard dash that plays a bit faster in game. Looks the part of middle infielder with soft quick hands. Good arm strength across the diamond at 87mph. Hits from a spread out base with a raw athletic approach, showing an above average ability to hit. Uses a gather step to transfer energy, getting to a strong launch position at front foot strike. Good barrel consistency from level swing with 89mph exit velocity. Plays the game hard with grit. Should be one of the top uncommitted 2021 INF prospects to follow in AZ.
