Neil Devlin From the Colorado Dugout: Recruiting Colorado Part 4

By Neil H. Devlin

So, you are a high-school baseball player in Colorado. You love the game and everything about it. You keep your school text books in your bat bag. You tried to go to the latest school function wearing spikes. Your yearbook picture is of you wearing a baseball cap and eye black. And if you could somehow fool your mother, you would sprinkle a rosin bag’s droppings over your morning cereal.

Plus, you’re absolutely bonkers about getting that all-important college scholarship and/or – gasp! – the possibility of being drafted by a Major League team.

As a result, you’ve convinced yourself that the only way it will happen is if you work your tail off, including throwing and hitting in the months of November and December.

All of this stands to reason, right?

Wrong … as in very.

There is no such thing as winter ball for schoolboys and there shouldn’t be.
