North Carolina Class of 2028: Rankings Update

The North Carolina Class of 2028 has just begun its high school journey. This past fall, the initial Class of 2028 rankings were unveiled, featuring the top 50 players in the state. Now, after a full preseason of scouting and evaluation, the updated rankings expand to include the top 75 players in North Carolina.

Emerging Talent in the 2028 Class

Early evaluations indicate that the 2028 class is exceptionally talented. Several players have already made an impact at the high school level, and as we move into the spring and summer seasons, more prospects will be assessed. This ongoing evaluation will culminate in the Super Sophomore Games, where North Carolina’s top 2028 players will compete against elite teams from nine other Prep Baseball territories.

Insights from Winter and Preseason Evaluations

This ranking update is based on insights gathered during the winter and preseason evaluation period. Events such as the Preseason ID and Preseason All-State provided the Prep Baseball scouting staff with opportunities to assess some of North Carolina’s top young talent. Through statistical analysis, advanced metrics, and overall player assessments, the scouting team has gained valuable perspective on the potential ceiling of these athletes. While still early in their development, the talent within the 2028 class is already becoming evident.

The Prep Baseball Ranking Process

The ranking process employed by Prep Baseball North Carolina follows a structured and unbiased approach. The scouting staff begins by assigning a player grade based on evaluations. Each player is then added to a rankings database specific to their graduation year. To maintain objectivity, player information is temporarily concealed while the staff sorts rankings based purely on talent and tool grades. Once sorted, player details are reintroduced, and final adjustments are made to ensure accuracy in the rankings.
