Uncommitted Senior Spotlight: OF Kai Hutchins (Pemberton)
November 17, 2022 TJ Hunt Director, PBR New Jersey
Scouting Report
2/20/22
Physical: Compact, athletic 5-foot-8, 175lb frame. 7.06 runner in the 60-yard dash.
Offensively: LHH - Even stance with some upper-half hinge over the plate, as the hands started up/down at the shoulder. Utilized a controlled toe-tap stride to initiate the swing through a flat path towards a two-handed finish on the backside. Some burst available and bat-speed present allowing for a 98 mph peak bat-exit velocity and 357 foot distance on his best blast. Mature approach that continually works on-time to the baseball; featured good adjustability in the box, too.
Defensively: The bouncy outfielder took intentful first steps off the bat and gained good angles to the plate on the touch off of his right side. An accurate, H ¾ slot saw a deeper takeaway extending towards a whippy release, up to 87 mph from his position.
