Player Spotlight: 2020 RHP/OF Frankie Collora (Ward Mellville HS)
April 26, 2018
Our "Player Spotlights" will be reserved for any prospect across New York who's abilities on the field have made some noteworthy recent buzz. Possibly a recent event where a Top Performer Spotlight article is just not enough, or maybe a recent commitment to a major program. Whatever it is, I'll (Dan Cevette) be going in-depth on the player spotlighted below with personal insight and honest feedback. Let's get started.

Frankie Collora RHP / OF / Ward Melville, NY / 2020Rankings StateRank: 20 / POS: 5
CEVETTE'S QUICK HIT: Digging in on Collora the excitement around his potential on the mound is real. Long limbs, lean and he's not done growing. Arm-swing is clean and there's low-effort from the righty with low-80's velocity present. Has the ability to throw the CB with 12/6 tight shape and a feel for an arm-side fade change-up. The body will get stronger, and the velocity will start climbing this summer. Excited to see him in late June at the NYS Games. SCOUTING REPORT: Frank is a 6-foot-0,150-pounds RHP/OF that ran a 4.52 home-to-first. Offensively: He hits in a crouched stance, uses a short stride and finishes with both hands on the bat with good extension and produced line drives with. Defensively: Charged the ball methodically in the outfield and made throws with 83 MPH velo. Pitching: He had a great showing on the mound. Worked with a great pace, had a clean delivery with a high leg kick, clean arm action and good finish, sat 80-83 MPH and worked down in the zone. Showed command of off-speed pitches, very deceptive change up at 71 MPH.
