TN Game Report: Hixson @ Soddy Daisy

On Tuesday, we traveled to Soddy Daisy for their matchup against Hixson. This was a warm day w/ nice weather and temperatures sitting in the 70’s. We were on site until the bottom of the 5th. Soddy Daisy was previously seen here and here.

FB (84-87, T88, T89), SL (75-78) - 3 IP, 2 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 2 BB, 1 K - 1-4 Intriguing 2-way prospect was up to 89 on the mound, popped 2.03-2.06 between innings. Tall, well-proportioned frame w/ lot of present strength, some projection. Built like a linebacker w/ physicality everywhere. Pitches from a full wind-up into over the top release. High effort throw w/ some head violence, falls off to the first base side. Super quick arm. FB flashes arm-side run. Heavy ball is difficult to drive. SL flashed proper shape, rotation. Flashed tightness w/ average depth. Sprayed the zone w/ the FB on this day, while 7 of 9 SL’s were strikes. Offensively, hits w/ an open, slightly crouched stance w/ hand rhythm into stride to slightly open and proper load. Generates bat speed through the zone, flashes above average bat speed. Learning to stay on line to the baseball w/ the lower half, as hips stay online, will tap into more power. Defensively, presents a big target for his pitcher w/ a quality low target. Moves well behind the plate. Strong forearms, shows feel for receiving and sticking the baseball. As a thrower, shows arm strength w/ carry through target and solid feet. |
