North Texas Preseason All-State: 2026/2027 Quick Hits

On Sunday, January 11th, the PB Texas staff traveled to Weatherford College in Weatherford, TX, to host the North Texas Preseason All-State, an invite-only event for all high school classes.
More than 80 players made their way to Weatherford this past weekend and participated in a pro-style workout, gathering unrivaled access to data through our state-of-the-art tech partners, as well as in-depth scouting analysis from our Prep Baseball Texas staff.
We have already released a Statistical Analysis from the event, highlighting the top statistical performers. Today, we will provide our scouting takeaways on some of the prospects who stood out throughout the event.

Brice Hubbard | SS/2B | Frisco Memorial | 2026 | R/R | 5’9” 155
Athletic middle infielder and plus runner (6.72 60). Shows solid defensive actions with infield versatility and also took reps in the outfield, where he looked capable. Hit-over-power profile with consistent contact when working the middle of the field. Strong makeup and a mature approach to the game.
Bennett Wall | OF/2B | Mount Pleasant | 2026 | R/R | 5’10” 162
Nice frame with room to add strength. Plus runner (6.76 60). Plays aggressively in the outfield and profiles as a steady defender. Arm works with near-average HS strength now and projects to firm. Shows developing ability to impact the baseball, including some pull-side power.
Cade Vidal | OF | Brock | 2026 | R/R | 6’0” 192
Solid, physical build with room for additional strength. Plus runner (6.83 60). Outfielder who moves well to the ball. Raw arm strength is present, with carry expected to improve as consistency improves. Shows hard barrel contact, topping 100 EV, with pull-side power capable of leaving the yard.
Kohl Woodfin | SS/3B | Gary | 2026 | R/R | 6’3” 193
Impressive frame with strength projection. Ran a 7.20 60. Primarily a third baseman but shows versatility across the infield. Plus high school arm strength with carry (up to 91 across). Produced consistent line-drive contact in BP with developing pull-side power.
Kason Kiro | 3B/2B | Euless Trinity | 2026 | L/R | 5’10” 164
Good build with room to add strength. Defensive actions are present with infield versatility. Shows a sound hit approach and flashes hard contact off the barrel. Overall skill set continues to trend upward with continued physical development.
Trace McCoy | SS/C | Midland | 2026 | R/R | 6’0” 174
Projectable frame with added strength coming. Defensive versatility with actions at shortstop and comfort behind the plate. Arm strength projects to average at the HS level. Best workout pop times of 1.98-2.01; received well in bullpen sessions. Hit-over-power offensive approach using all fields. Continues to improve across the board.
Layton Murrell | C | Springtown | 2026 | R/R | 6’1” 204 | Navarro Commit
Strong, physical build with good lower-half strength. Receives well and shows feel for blocking, consistently keeping balls in front. Quick release with accurate throws (1.94-2.01 pops). Shows a reliable hit approach with consistent line-drive contact. High-level makeup.
Shea Young | 1B/DH | Allen | 2026 | R/R | 6’1” 236
Thick, powerful build with clear offensive upside. Shows the ability to impact the baseball with consistent hard contact and raw power (102+ EV). Profiles as a steady defender at first base. Middle-of-the-order strength bat.
Jamie Chipman | RHP/1B | Academy | 2027 | R/R | 6’6” 210 | Baylor Commit
Elite physical frame with strength gains over the past year. Runs well for size (6.96). Moves well at first base with room to firm actions. Above-average bat and hand speed with exit velos north of 110; dangerous power presence despite an aggressive approach. On the mound, fastball reached 91 in bullpen, with spin to the breaking ball. Showed maturity by staying within himself and not forcing effort early.
Baker Jackson | OF | Round Rock | 2027 | R/R | 5’11” 156
Athletic build with room to add strength. Plus runner (6.78 60). Profiles as a center fielder with aggressive routes and good breakdowns to the ball. Arm projects to above-average. Simple offensive approach produces consistent barrel contact. Toolsy athlete with upside.
Carson Roy | OF | Rock Hill | 2027 | R/R | 5’11” 168
Projectable frame with added strength coming. Plus runner (6.75 60). Can handle all three outfield spots with near-average HS arm strength. Shows raw power and advanced hand/bat speed for the level. Hard contact present; hit approach continues to develop. Solid all-around baseball player.
Jackson Simon | SS/2B | Keller | 2027 | R/R | 5’10” 169
Well-proportioned frame with continued strength gains ahead. Did not run at this event (7.20 previously). Defensive actions are reliable with average HS arm strength. Shows a solid, middle-of-the-field hit approach. Strong makeup and consistent presence.
Brayden Naegele | OF/SS | Salado | 2027 | R/R | 5’10” 175
Physical projection remains strong. Plus runner (6.80 60). Athletic defender capable of handling all outfield spots. Plus arm strength (up to 90 mph). Shows consistent hard contact, topping 101 EV. Tools continue to trend up.

Strong frame with room to continue adding strength. Solid defender who moves well to the ball and can play all three outfield positions. Shows a mature hit approach with consistent line-drive contact. Overall tool set continues to improve.
Braeden Kaminski | OF | Prosper | 2027 | R/R | 5’11” 189
Solid, physical build with plus running ability (6.85 60). Reliable defender capable across all three outfield spots. Raw arm strength present with improving carry. Shows a middle-of-the-field approach with hard barrel contact and pull-side power (102.6 EV).
Brendan Freeman | RHP/OF | Emerson | 2027 | R/R | 6’2” 201 | DBU Commit
Strong, athletic frame with room for more strength. Plus runner (6.88). Moves well in the outfield with plus raw arm strength. Consistent hard contact at the plate (102.5 EV). On the mound, touched 91 in a short bullpen; slider spun at 2800, curveball at 2700+. Flashed a split with action. More velocity and polish likely ahead.
Brady Skutta | OF/RHP | Lake Travis | 2027 | R/R | 6’1” 185
Physical build with continued strength development ahead. Runs well (6.96). Moves fluidly in the outfield with sound defensive actions. Offensive profile features consistent hard contact (101+ EV) with pull-side power. Arm strength continues to develop.
Jackson Woodham | 3B/SS | Lewisville | 2027 | R/R | 6’0” 188
Strong lower-half build with solid athleticism. Ran a 6.96 60. Defensive actions are present with reliable hands and feet. Arm strength projects to improve. Shows power potential with consistent hard contact.
Andrew Humphries | C | Ryan | 2027 | R/R | 5’10” 208
Strong, thick build with good mobility (7.12 60). Workout pop times ranged 1.96-2.01 with present carry; accuracy will continue to firm. No in-game pop recorded. Offensive profile includes consistent barrel contact (100+ EV) with pull-side power. Continues to trend upward.
Grant Peterson | 3B/SS | Mansfield Legacy | 2027 | R/R | 6’1” 193
Projectable build with strength gains ahead. Defensive actions are solid, with above-average HS arm strength suitable for third base. Shows pull-side power potential and produced 100+ EV in BP.
Lucas Smith | C/1B | Lovejoy | 2027 | R/R | 6’2” 200 | Sam Houston State Commit
Strong frame with lower-half strength. Receives well in bullpens and blocks effectively. Consistent workout pop times (2.0-2.1). Offensively shows pull-side power with repeated 100+ EV contact. Reliable two-way presence behind the plate and at first.
Tanner Brown | C/1B | Lovejoy | 2027 | R/R | 6’2” 220
Physical build with strength present and more coming. Received well in bullpens and showed solid blocking ability. Pop times ranged from 1.93-2.01 with raw arm strength evident. Offensively produces consistent line-drive contact with frequent barrel contact.

Braeden Kaminski | RHP | 2027 | Prosper | R/R | 5’10” 186
Repeats his delivery with an arm that works well. Fastball topped 88 mph, sitting 85-87 with arm-side tail. Shows feel for both breaking balls, with the curveball (66-72) and slider (78-80) flashing solid shape and spin just over 2000 rpm. Changeup shows tail/sink action. Projects for added velocity as strength and maturity continue to come.
Cole Schott | RHP | 2027 | Flower Mound Marcus | R/R | 5’11” 193
Strong lower half with a solid overall build. Delivery works cleanly and arm action is sound, with arm speed still developing. Fastball touched 85 mph. Shows an ability to spin the baseball, highlighted by a slider with solid action and spin over 2400 rpm. Curveball is a bigger breaker with depth (2300+ spin), and the changeup shows sink and deception. Interesting arm with spin traits; velocity should continue to rise.
Mason Duncan | RHP | 2027 | Flower Mound | R/R | 6’5” 225
Big, physical right-hander with strength in the lower half and more to come. Uses a side-step rocker with some moving parts, creating deception. Low slot but arm works well. Fastball topped 90 mph, sitting 89-90 with life to both sides; two-seam shows sink. Slider (79-81) has quality action, and the changeup features tail/sink with deception. Very impressive bullpen showing; velocity should continue to trend up.
Calvin Rippy | LHP | 2027 | Tyler Legacy | L/L | 5’10” 160
Projectable frame with room to add strength. Repeats delivery well from a low, side-arm slot with present arm speed. Fastball worked 85-87, topping 87, with arm-side life. Both slider and curveball show plus spin and action; slider (78-79) with hard sweep at 2800 rpm, curveball (76-77) with depth at 2600+. Changeup (81-82) shows tail/sink. Stuff plays in the zone and secondary pitches have real swing-and-miss potential.
Ashton Elder | LHP | 2027 | Byron Nelson | L/L | 6’4” 235
Big-bodied left-hander with strength in the lower half. Full arm circle with some arm speed present. Fastball topped 86, working 84-85 with tail and good effectiveness down in the zone. Curveball shows solid action with feel, and the changeup (74-75) has quality action and deception. Arm works well; velocity should continue to improve.
Jake Snakenberg | LHP | 2027 | Argyle | L/L | 6’0” 212
Thick, strong build with a physical lower half. Full arm circle with clean action; arm speed should continue to develop. Fastball topped 87, sitting 85-86 with arm-side tail and occasional carry up in the zone. Curveball shows quality spin (2500+) and action, while the changeup has fade. Left-hander with spin traits and upside as velocity continues to climb.
Graham Hardin | RHP | 2027 | Coronado | R/R | 6’2” 185
Strong, projectable frame with added strength ahead. Long, full arm circle from a low ¾ slot with present arm speed. Fastball topped 90, working 88-89 with quality two-seam tail/sink. Blended breaking ball (79-81) shows late action at times, and the changeup (83-84) has tail. Stuff is intriguing; continued command gains will elevate the profile.
Hudson Harbuck | RHP | 2027 | Fort Worth All Saints | R/R | 6’6” 214
Long, physical frame with plenty of projection remaining. Full arm circle with present arm speed. Fastball worked 86-87, topping 87, showing carry up in the zone with solid downhill plane. Breaking ball shows short, late action with quality feel, and the changeup has fade. Velocity should continue to come as he matures; strong follow arm.
Ian Mulligan | RHP | 2027 | McKinney Christian Academy | R/R | 6’4” 205
Prototypical pitcher’s build with strength still coming. Full arm circle and clean arm action with arm speed present. Fastball topped 89, sitting 87-88, with carry through the zone and some arm-side life. Slider (77-80) flashes solid action when released cleanly, and the changeup shows tail/sink. A power frame with clear indicators of more velocity ahead.
Jayton Mulkey | RHP | 2027 | Caddo Mills | R/R | 6’2” 188
Strong, athletic frame with room to add strength. Moves well on the mound with a full arm circle and good arm speed. Fastball topped 87, working 85-87 with carry and slight arm-side tail. Curveball (72-76) showed 2400+ spin with flashes of quality shape; slider (76-78) also spun 2400+ with solid action. Changeup shows variation with cut and tail/sink, adding deception. Athletic arm with spin traits and velocity upside.
