North Texas Preseason All-State: 2028/2029 Quick Hits

On Sunday, January 11th, the PB Texas staff traveled to Weatherford College in Weatherford, TX, to host the North Texas Preseason All-State, an invite-only event for all high school classes.
More than 80 players made their way to Weatherford this past weekend and participated in a pro-style workout, gathering unrivaled access to data through our state-of-the-art tech partners, as well as in-depth scouting analysis from our Prep Baseball Texas staff.
We have already released a Statistical Analysis from the event, highlighting the top statistical performers. Today, we will provide our scouting takeaways on some of the prospects who stood out throughout the event.

Braylon Hubbard | SS | Duncanville | 2028 | R/R | 6’0” 182
Strong, projectable frame with room to add strength. Quick-twitch athlete with explosiveness in his game. 6.92 60yd. Defensive actions are developing; hands and feet work, currently 86mph across the INF, with more coming. Offensively shows real impact potential with present raw power (104+ EV). Bat and hand speed stand out. Toolsy 2028 follow.
Maverick Walker | OF | Hallsville | 2028 | R/R | 5’9” 150
Projects well physically with added strength coming. Ran a 7.28 60; speed should continue to firm. Moves well to the baseball in the outfield and profiles as a solid defender. Arm works and should improve with strength gains. Shows a sound hit approach; swing and impact will continue to develop. Developmental player trending upward.
Jake Powell | SS | Flower Mound Marcus | 2028 | R/R | 6’2” 168
Lean, projectable build with strength coming. Has run a 7.22 60 at previous events. Defensive actions are developing with infield versatility. Arm works and projects to at least average HS strength, with a chance for more. Swing works; bat speed and strength should firm as the body matures. Worth tracking.
Daxton Price | OF/LHP | Mount Pleasant | 2028 | L/L | 5’11” 169
Athletic with a strong physical foundation and more strength ahead. Plus runner (6.80 60). Center-field profile with good reads and range. Plus HS arm strength already present (up to 92). Bat and hand speed are there with a developing hit approach; upside bat/power profile. Also pitches LH; notes to follow. Toolsy prospect.
Luke Gatzke | OF | Rockwall-Heath | 2028 | R/R | 5’11” 165
Good frame with strength coming. Well above-average runner (6.54 60). Center fielder who moves well to the ball and breaks down cleanly. Arm strength should continue to improve. Shows hard barrel contact; swing and approach will firm, increasing consistency. Tools are evident; intriguing follow.
Benjamin Robinson | SS | Waxahachie | 2028 | R/R | 5’11” 182
Well-built frame with room for added strength. Ran a 6.94 60. Defensive actions are present with solid hands and feet. Raw arm strength is there; didn’t fully cut it loose here, but has shown 90 across the infield previously. Flashes hard contact; look for a jump in bat speed as strength comes. Checks the boxes defensively at shortstop.
James Siegler | 3B/1B | Highland Park | 2028 | R/R | 6’0” 189
Projects well physically with strength and maturity coming. Ran a 7.46 60; speed should improve with continued development. Defensive actions are progressing; arm works and projects to at least average HS strength. Flashes real raw power (100+ EV). Offensive approach continues to develop. Upside player.
Travis Richmond | C | Homeschool | 2028 | R/R | 5’6” 200
Strong, compact build with good width through the shoulders and back. Ran a 7.22 60. Received well in bullpens and showed the ability to block and move efficiently behind the plate. Accurate throws to second; raw arm strength should continue to improve to firm pop times. Offensively shows a solid approach with present impact (102+ EV). Catcher with developmental upside.
Kyler Reynolds | C/3B | Flower Mound | 2028 | R/R | 5’9” 206
Solid, strong frame with good lower-half strength. Defensive actions are sound in the infield; behind the plate he receives well and shows the ability to block and keep balls in front. Raw arm strength is developing. Offensively, swing is coming along and he’s already producing hard contact (100+ EV) with pull-side power. Follow his progression.
Graham Barton | SS/RHP | Colleyville Heritage | 2029 | R/R | 5’11” 145
Projectable young athlete with strength gains ahead. Ran a 7.02 60 and projects as a plus runner. Defensive actions are present with clean feet and hands. Arm projects to above-average at the HS level. Shows a sound hit approach and barrels the baseball. Middle infielder to keep tracking.
Brennan Ball | OF/RHP | Brewer | 2029 | L/R | 5’10” 162
Nice frame with strength coming. Ran a 7.16 60; speed should firm. Moves well in the outfield and can handle all three spots. Projects to average HS arm strength. Solid hit approach with developing bat speed. Shows the ability to handle velocity and adjust the barrel. Young player with growth ahead.
Miles Swanson | C | Allen | 2029 | R/R | 6’0” 166
Projectable frame with strength gains ahead. Ran a 7.26 60. Solid receiver in bullpen work and handled velocity well. Workout pop times ranged 1.93-2.08; release quickness and raw arm strength will firm. Developing hit approach with adequate bat speed for age. Young catcher worth monitoring.
Reese Moss | C/3B | Keller | 2029 | R/R | 6’1” 193
Physical frame with continued strength coming. Ran a 7.29 60. Receiving actions are solid; pop times should improve as raw arm strength and footwork continue to develop. Offensively shows a sound approach with consistent barrel contact and developing pull-side power. Developmental player with upside.
Will Moss | OF/1B | Keller | 2029 | L/L | 6’1” 178
Good build with room to add strength. Ran a 7.29 60. Moves well to the baseball and breaks down cleanly in the field. Arm works and projects to at least average HS strength. Shows some present raw power to the pull side with more coming. Player to follow.
Pitchers
Bryce Wilhite | RHP | Flower Mound Marcus | 2028 | R/R | 5’10” 188
Strong build with a repeatable delivery and clean arm action. Full arm circle with solid arm speed. Fastball topped 90, working 87-89 with good plane; two-seam shows tail and sink. Slider (74-78) flashed quality action; curveball showed similar spin and shape. Changeup shows tail/sink. Throws strikes with stuff; arm works and velocity should continue to climb.
Dax Price | LHP/OF | Mount Pleasant | 2028 | L/L | 5’11” 168
Athletic left-hander with a solid build. Repeats delivery with arm speed present. Fastball worked 86-87, topping 87, showing arm-side tail and carry. Slider (74-78) spun 2600+ with quality finish; curveball (71-72) featured depth with 2800+ spin. Circle change shows tail/sink. Advanced spin profile with continued upside.
AJ Bonnette | LHP/1B | Southlake Carroll | 2028 | L/L | 5’11” 191
Strong lower half with a repeatable delivery. Cutoff arm action with present arm speed and good extension. Fastball worked 85-88, topping 88, with quality two-seam tail/sink. Curveball shows feel for spin with tilt and depth. Changeup (79-82) features tail/sink. Stuff plays in the zone; velocity should continue to improve.
Brennan Ball | RHP | Brewer | 2029 | R/R | 5’10” 162
Projectable right-hander with strength coming. Delivery works and arm action is clean. Fastball touched 85 with life to both sides of the plate. Blended breaking ball spun around 2200+; flashes solid action when released well. Changeup (74-78) shows quality movement. Developmental arm worth following.
Wilson Riemer | LHP | Flower Mound Marcus | 2029 | L/L | 6’3” 214
Big, physical left-hander with an easy arm action. Clean delivery with a full arm circle and developing arm speed. Fastball worked 79-82, topping 82. Curveball (66-69) showed quality shape and feel with ~2200 spin. Changeup (71-72) has tail/sink. Projectable LHP who should throw harder as strength comes.
Gage Blankenship | RHP | Lovejoy | 2028 | R/R | 6’4” 185
Excellent frame with strength gains ahead. Arm works well with developing arm speed. Fastball worked 83-84, topping 85, with good plane and carry. Curveball (72-76) shows solid spin and finish. Strike thrower with projection; velocity should continue to climb.
Lane Beacham | LHP | Boyd | 2028 | L/L | 6’2” 164
Projectable frame with strength coming. Long arm action from a side-arm slot with present arm speed. Fastball worked 80-83, topping 83, with arm-side tail. Slider (70-72) shows sweep and 2300+ spin; also flashed a firmer breaker (74-76) with turnover action. Unique slot with upside as velocity improves.
Logan Starnes | RHP | Dripping Springs | 2028 | R/R | 6’4” 200
Strong frame with added strength coming. Clean arm action with a cutoff circle and good extension. Fastball worked 88-89, topping 90, with life and late glove-side action. Blended breaking ball spun around 2300 with flashes of quality shape. Looked impressive on the mound; arm speed is there and velocity should continue to tick up.
