Each week throughout the high school season, we will announce the Prep Baseball Washington Pitcher and Hitter of the Week, recognizing standout performances from across the state. With numerous players excelling both at the plate and on the mound, this award will be based on nominations submitted through our POTW Google Form.

Additionally, we will continue our Washington Diamond Notes to highlight other deserving players nominated by coaches who were not selected as the Pitcher or Hitter of the Week.

This week's Pitcher of the Week is '26 RHP AJ Welch (Monroe).

WA PITCHER OF THE WEEK (3/10-3/15)

Andrew (AJ) Welch RHP / 1B / Monroe, WA / 2026 Junior RHP AJ Welch earns week one's Pitcher of the Week honors after throwing 5 no-hit innings during Monroe's 10-0 victory last friday. The uncommitted arm gave up no runs, striking out 8 and walking just 1 batter on the day. Welch is currently the 34th ranked player in the Washington 2026 class and was most recently seen at the Pacific Northwest Preseason All-State event.
