Q&A with Arkansas Commit Ty Burnham

Mikel Howell
Prep Baseball Arkansas Asst. Scouting Director

RHP/OF Ty Burnham (Rogers) is one of the most gifted athletes in the 2026 graduating class. He has one of the most impressive young arms with the ability to throw low-to-mid 90s off the mound and 95+ from the outfield. This and the abililty to provide consistent pop at the plate, makes him a standout commit for this years graduating class.

We recently had the chance to talk to Burnham about his recruitment process, along with some other fun topics, below.

Our Q&A

Prep Baseball: What were your expectations about the recruiting process? What were you looking for out of a college program to continue your baseball career at?

Ty: I didn’t really know what to expect, I was just looking for somewhere that felt right with no uncertainty

PB: What do you like most about the program you chose, and what were the key factors in making your decision?

T: Close to family, great coaches

PB: What advice would you give to young baseball players striving to get where you are?

T: Work your hardest to get where you want, not to satisfy someone else

PB: Did location or distance from home play a factor in your decision?

T: A little bit

PB: When did the recruiting process really start to heat up for you? Where did the school you committed to first see you play?

T: It really heated up last summer and they saw me for the first time at a camp in 2024

PB: Was there a particular Prep Baseball tournament or showcase that helped accelerate your recruiting process? If yes, how so?

T: No

PB: What other schools were on your short list before you made your final decision?

T: Oregon, Louisiana Tech, McLennan

PB: Who is the best player you have faced in your state? What about them makes for a tough opponent?

T: Mark Brissey last year was pretty tough to see at time and has pretty solid stuff off his mid 90’s fastball. Every time I faced him it was in a high pressure situation as well

PB: If you could steal any tool or quality from another player in the state, what would it be and who would it be from?

T: Kameron Davis - speed

PB: Who is the next talented young player to keep an eye on out of your high school or travel program?

T: Cameron Henderson LHP Rogers high school

PB: At what point in your career did you realize you were a college-caliber player and became serious about taking your game to the next level?

T: I never really paid too much attention to whether I was a college caliber player or not I kind of just played. About a year ago when I moved to Arkansas is when I really dialed in to get a lot better

PB: What is the most memorable moment in your baseball career to this point?

T: Winning the state championship

PB: Preview your high school team's season for us. How do you feel your team will be?

T: I feel like we will be pretty solid, just like every year there is some figuring out to do but we control our success.
