VENTURA, CALIF. - This past weekend the Prep Baseball West Coast team hosted the West Coast Games at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, Cal. This was an invite-only event for high school classes (2026-2027), and hosted the best uncommitted prospects from the West Region that have been identified by each of the state's scouting directors. The event was comprised of teams/players from Arizona, California, Colorado, Idaho, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, and Washington.

14 players from California made their way to Loyola Marymount and participated in a pro-style workout, gathering unrivaled access to data through our state-of-the-art tech partners, as well as in-depth scouting analysis from our Prep Baseball California staff.

Today, we will be looking at the top performers from the workout portion of the event, found below.

WORKOUT DAY: TOP PERFORMERS

London Anderson OF / Bakersfield Christian High School, CA / 2026

Anderson put on a display during his workout at the Bakersfield Summer ID that earned him an invite to the West Coast Games. Once he stepped on the field at Loyola Marymount University the dynamic athlete showed once again the high level collection of tools he possesses. Opening the day by running a pair of 60 yard sprints with the first registering 6.54 seconds and then posting an event best 6.45 time on his second try with his 1.55 10 yard and 3.57 30 yard splits also being event best times his 21.4 MPH max run speed was second best at the event. He then moved over to the defensive workout where he showed off a solid present arm tool with a 85 MPH OF arm velocity (up from 80 MPH at the Bakersfield event) while moving with easy athleticism around the OF grass. While his explosive athleticism and CF defensive profile are enticing on their own premise it's not the only way that Anderson stood out during the workout with his round of batting practice opening eyes even further to his present ability and future upside. The RH hitter showed off an ability to impact the baseball with authority during his Bakersfield ID batting practice, but took it up a notch at LMU posting personal bests now in the hand speed (23.5 MPH), bat speed (74.7 MPH), rotational acceleration (27.3 Gs) on Blast Motion. His explosive operation in the batters box combines with a strong feel for timing/approach to produce loud batted ball metrics on Trackman. Anderson posted personal bests of 102.4 MPH max exit velocity, 97.9 MPH average exit velocity with an 88% hard hit rate. The Bakersfield Christian product has now twice shown a dynamic speed/power profile that profiles as a high ceiling CF product that is going to be a tremendous land for someone at the next level while undoubtedly continuing to push his profile up the 2026 rankings board come the end of the fall.

Wylan Rottschafer SS / RHP / Costa Mesa High, CA / 2026

Rottschafer was the top ranked player from California to compete in the West Coast Games and the OC based INF product showed why he is one of the top uncommitted players left on the board. Rottschafer showed off improved athleticism to his profile giving even further evidence to his potential to stick up the middle long term by running a 6.84 60 yard sprint with 1.62 10 yard and 3.79 30 yard splits while reaching a 20.1 MPH max run speed. That upward trending athleticism carried over into his defensive workout where his actions stood out from the 70ish infielders in attendance with natural rhythm to his footwork, smooth consistent hands/transfer, easy comfort throwing from all angles showing accuracy from a low 80's INF arm velocity. The defensive profile for Rottschafer is enticing alone, but he showed off his strong offensive ability during his round of batting practice. Rottschafer had recently been at the California State Games where he had a strong showing, but came back at West Coast Games to post personal bests with improved bat speed now up to 74.6 MPH, producing 15 Gs of rotational acceleration in his swing. The swing for Rottschafer is geared to use the middle of the field for hard contact which he did throughout his round posting a max exit velocity at 96.5 MPH which was amongst the upper half of top EVs for the day across all players in attendance. For good measure Rottschafer had a solid 84 MPH average EV while putting up hard line drives at 318' to the gaps. Wylan showed a well rounded profile as a player who can stick on the dirt long term with impact potential defense while adding an offensive profile the can profile to add strong depth to a lineup at the next level.

Ryan Talley OF / RHP / Royal, CA / 2026

Talley came into the West Coast Games off a strong showing at the Bakersfield Summer ID where the slightly under the radar Royal outfielder made a strong impression. Then the 5'10 157.6 lbs. dynamic CF profile defender backed it up with his outstanding showing during the workout portion of the West Coast Games. Opening the day he showed off the impact athleticism/speed in his profile by narrowly missing tying Anderson for the best 60 yard sprint of the day by posting a 6.46 with 1.59 10 yard and 3.63 30 yard splits (both second best at the event) while posting the top run speed of the day at 21.6 MPH. He showed consistency to his arm tool (87 MPH at the Bakersfield Summer ID) by throwing 85 MPH with carry to this throws with wet OF grass that gives him an easy high quality arm in CF while showing the potential to move to RF if necessary. His batting practice was once again very strong with a compact and direct swing that laces hard line drive contact from line to line playing to his speed profile. At the West Coast Games he posted personal bests with his 27.2 Gs of rotational acceleration and a 63% sweet spot rate. For all of his metrics Talley showed consistency to his hand speed and bat speed by posting 21.1 MPH hand speed and 70.9 MPH bat speed which were in line with his showing at the Bakersfield Summer ID. His batted ball data was consistent again with a 95.9 MPH max exit velocity, 87.9 average exit velocity with a 62% line drive rate during his round. The tools for Talley are intriguing across the board with athleticism, speed, CF defense and top of the order offensive ability all combining into a name to be paying close attention to for college programs still on the recruiting trail in the 2026 class.

Colton Booterbaugh OF / RHP / Highland High, CA / 2026

Booterbaugh has been the picture of consistency now across three different events beginning at the FGT: Central California then at the Senior Futures Games for Team West Coast and once again with his workout at the West Coast Games. Based out of the high desert area of Southern California Booterbaugh has a three position defensive versatility in the OF where his 84 MPH OF (86 is his personal best) arm plays well in CF/LF and shows RF upside with a tick more added velocity in the future. He is solid athlete who ran a 7.21 60 which has been in line with all his other times giving him solid overall athletic ability while running nearly 19 MPH at his max speed. His defensive ability is very sound across the board, but it's the offensive potential for Booterbaugh that continues to impress at a high rate. Booterbaugh has a natural feel for his barrel and during his batting practice at West Coast Games showed off strength to the opposite field gap with a new personal best exit velocity at 94.8 MPH. All of his other metrics were right in line with everything he has shown at previous events including his swing metrics with 20.5 MPH hand speed, 68.4 MPH bat speed, 10+ Gs of rotational acceleration. The RH hitter is geared for high contact with the ability to use all of the field for hard contact which included 87.8 MPH of average exit velocity, 63% fly ball/line drive rate, 330' max distance, 62% sweet spot and a 37% hard hit rate. For a college program still on the hunt for a talented RH hitter who can play all over the OF, boasts a track record of performance, consistency to his profile and still has plenty of upside in the future they would be well served to take a close look at Booterbaugh.

Jesse Colon SS / 3B / La Mirada High, CA / 2026

Colon entered the West Coast Games as an under the radar prospect from a powerhouse La Mirada program, but the OC based INF left the event making a strong impression to his offensive ability. The athletic ability for Colon is presently solid with a 7.19 60 yard dash time, 1.67 10 yard and 3.97 30 yard splits showed well while adding a 19.1 MPH max run speed that profiles to a 2B/3B defensive profile. His hands, footwork and rhythm were sound while showing a presently accurate and quick 79 MPH INF arm velocity. He is a compact, but solidly built 5'6 161.6 lbs. RH hitter who showed a natural feel for hitting during batting practice with an innate feel for his barrel at contact. Colon posted strong Blast Motion metrics from a compact swing path that generates 20.2 MPH of hand speed, 67.9 MPH of bat speed and rotates with 17.9 Gs of rotational acceleration. His direct swing path and feel for timing produced consistent hard contact throughout his batting practice with a 57% hard hit rate and 86% sweet spot rate on balls in play. His smaller frame packs some punch reminiscent of compact framed RH hitters like Jose Altuve averaging 89.4 MPH of exit velocity with a max exit velocity up to 93.6 MPH while hammering line drives all over the field with a 309' max distance playing to line to line doubles power. His workout was just a precursor to what would turn out to be an impressive all over performance for a player who has the type of strong overall profile to be a player that can really help a college program in the future.
