2023 California State Games Stats, Data, Metrics

Noah Greenspan OF / Serra, CA / 2025Having seen Greenspan (R/R) a few times, he does have tools and a body that are attractive and projects well for the college game. What has been MOST impressive about him are the length and quality of his at-bats. He is TENACIOUS in the box and can grind down a pitcher and as he gains more consistency relative to barelling his pitch early in the at-bat (something nearly ALL high school hitters can improve), he will emerge as a hitter colleges may take notice of. |

Matthew Holcomb RHP / St. Francis, CA / 2025Rankings StateRank: 262 / POS: 66
Presently Holcomb is in the category of pitch-maker, crafty, strike-throwing right-hander. Nothing wrong with that and frankly, coming off a strong varsity season as a sophomore (in one of best leagues in California), what he is now should make him notable among college coaches. He can still add raw stuff and when he does, if he does, he already has pitchability... vs those in his peer group who may have more present stuff but lack pitchability. |

Joshua Parras OF / James Logan, CA / 2024Rankings StateRank: 328 / POS: 52
At two events this summer we saw Parras shine with the bat and display athleticism that is at the very least intriguing. He's a LHH, and here is a look at the numbers for some of the raw tools... 6.87 60, 72.1 max bat speed, 22.7 max hand speed, 95.8 max EV. 85 mph max OF velo and power/speed score of 13.9. The Blast metrics are also strong, with high scores in avg rotational acceleration (16) and good plane efficiency. |

Lucas Schumaker OF / 3B / Serra, CA / 2024Rankings StateRank: 344 / POS: 57
A second player at Serra HS (San Mateo, CA) on this list, the Padres look poised for a strong 2024 season, particularly on the offensive side of the game. Schumaker has long been a player we've known of, going back to his freshman year, with tools, size, and projectability that always suggested a future in college baseball. With some steady performance in 2024 to connect to his tools (88 OF velo, 7.06 60, 73.3 max bat speed), he's got a chance to break through as a corner OF. |

Tino Vasell SS / 2B / College Park, CA / 2025Rankings StateRank: 258 / POS: 62
As a left-hand hitting middle infielder, Vasell gets a leg up on many players, simply because the game values left-handed hitters more. What the game values more than left-handed hitters, is GOOD hitters, no matter the side of the plate they hit on. Vasell has displayed high level barrel control and bat to ball skills. He's a gritty competitor and we've seen him grind pitchers before eventually getting a mistake and flipping a hit into the middle of the field. The other raw tools (good arm, up to 85) aren't eye-popping, but the best tool to have, is the ability to hit. He can. |
