ISLANDERS FIELD - LATHROP, CALIF. - A total of 21 pitchers competed on the mound. The event was comprised entirely of 2024/2025 grads, with a number of players who look poised to break into their grad class rankings in the not too distant future.

In addition to the traditional showcase (60 yard run, BP round, defensive workouts), the pitchers competed in live game action where their data was gathered, and each position player had four at-bats during the game they played in. Today's post highlights the leaders in velocity and spin, with the data gathered via the portable TrackMan B1 unit.

Prep Baseball Report California events across the country have been powered by TrackMan’s industry-leading portable system to capture pinpoint accurate, actionable data from player performances. Prep Baseball Report and TrackMan are dedicated to recognizing talent and unleashing their potential.

At the event all pitchers pitches were monitored through the portable Trackman B1 unit. Each player threw their complete arsenal of pitches allowing us to collect metrics such as release velocity, spin rate, vertical & horizontal movement and much more.

This data goes directly into the player profiles allowing the PBR Staff, college coaches and professional scouts alike to evaluate and compare prospects on a national scale.

Here are some of the advanced metrics gathered.

Spin Rate is defined as how fast the ball is spinning as it leaves the pitcher's hand, measured in "Revolutions per Minute or RPM"

Spin Score (listed in the sortable player stats link below) = Spin Rate (RPM) / Velocity (MPH)

Driveline Baseball on Spin Score: Spin Scores are intended to control for velocity when looking at spin rate. The equation was intended to be simple enough for coaches and players to use quickly in practice to compare pitchers to MLB average.

We will roll out more data and content from this PBR scouted event in the coming days and weeks.
