WILDOMAR, CA. - The Road to the California State Games began at the inaugural Riverside County Preseason All-State held at Elsinore High School. Players descended on the field to show their fall/winter progress in the leadup to the spring season just a few weeks away. The invitation only event drew over 200 requests which was narrowed down to the 80 participants selected.
Players were put through a customary pro-style workout that included a laser-time 60-yard sprint, a round of batting practice, a defensive workout that includes double-play turns for infielders, and concluded with bullpen sessions for pitchers. We purposely did not include games because we didn’t want to put pitchers who aren’t ready to face live hitters in that situation.
As we dive deeper into our notes and videos we will release more post-event content. Earlier we released our Quick Hits highlighting 20 early standouts, the Statistical Analysis and now we'll take a look at the pitchers from the event. Other names were included in out Quick Hits.

Riverside County Preseason All-State - Funky right-hander with a solid frame at 6-foot-2 175 pounds. Unique mechanics create deception and show potential for off-setting hitters timing. Released his three-pitch mix from an over-the-top arm slot with a slight pause in the back and a big leg kick. Fastball showed carry at 75-77 mph and looked harder than it read. Showed good command of his 12/6 curveball at 63-64 mph. Change-up shows above-average potential with parachute fade and control at 66-67 mph. Room for growth and likely velocity gains make this funky right-hander an interesting pitcher to watch.
