The Uncommitted Spotlight Series continues as we have started the '24 CIF High School baseball season Prep Baseball California is now highlighting some of the top uncommitted class of '25 athletes. The players featured are pulled directly from our '25 Class Rankings. These JR year players are ones that college coaches and fans should be keeping their eyes on over the coming months.
We invite you to get to know them through the eyes of our Prep Baseball California staff of scouts and the data-backed numbers collected at our events with our partnered companies. TrackMan, Blast Motion, Swift Performance, and Visual Edge provide comparable data to project and evaluate players. All of these systems come together to give a clear picture at what colleges will get when a players steps onto their campus.
Today, we put the spotlight on a NorCal '25 SS/2B Joshua Ramirez from Turlock High School. We are back in the baseball rich Central Valley to look at a compact framed middle of the diamond infielder with a solid foundation of baseball ability/performance and room to develop athletically. Ramirez has sound fielding actions where he displays rhythm with his footwork and the ability to play laterally/downhill with comfort. His hands are sure with a clean quick transfer which help his arm play above its present raw arm strength while showing consistent accuracy to his throws. The actions, hands and accuracy to the arm give him potential to stick at SS, but will need to improve his athleticism/arm strength to make it happen with the fallback of being a very good defender at 2B. His swing shows quickness in the hand path with a good turn of the lower half helping him to create torque to drive the baseball on a line to the gaps. With a maximum exit velocity at 88.4 MPH while averaging 81.3 MPH the offensive profile plays to high contact with doubles power which plays in game. He shows the ability to work the middle to opposite side of the field with consistency. Ramirez will have time to continue to add strength in his frame and athleticism to his run tool/actions which both will factor in the ceiling for his profile, but the present ability as a baseball player including an All-League sophomore campaign should have him on the radar for college programs in their '25 class.
College coaches and fans be sure to click on Ramirez's profile to see full video and statistics.
