WOODBRIDGE, CT—It didn’t look like baseball would get played Thursday, but the sun broke through in Connecticut and C Patrick Winkel (Amity HS, CT) made the most of Amity’s senior day, going 2-for-4 with a home run, double, two RBIs and two runs scored. He flew out in his first at-bat, showing a long, dragging swing, but shortened up and punished an inside pitch in his next at-bat for a solo home run to straightaway right field. He got jammed in his third at-bat, popping out harmlessly to third base, but squared another ball up in his fourth with a double down the left field line, helping Amity to the 10-3 win.
