Prep Baseball Georgia Scout Blog: Week 7
March 31, 2025
The Georgia Scout Blog will be a weekly blog with reports and videos from the players and teams that we go out to cover each week. The blog will remain for the length of the week with notes being added the day following from each game. At the end of the week we will update the POWER 25 and CLASSIFICATION RANKINGS, then at the beginning of the following week we will announce Player of the Week awards, along with our Diamond Notes, which is a culmination of all players that were not selected for player of the week.
Week of March 24th
Monday
Cooper Robinson, 2B/RHP, 2025, Villa Rica
Gordon State commit. The senior did it all for the Wildcats to pick up a big-time region win on Monday. Robinson drew the start and deployed an easy operation on the mound with a three-pitch mix. Fastball sat 83-85 T86 with arm-side run. Slider was spun over at 78-79 with the ability to manipulate shape. Changeup was worked sparingly at 75. The right-hander induced weak contact and missed barrels throughout the course of the game. Which resulted in a strong outing of 6.0 IP of 1-run ball in a win. Robinson would help himself out at the plate as well on multiple instances. As he would end up reaching base 4-times while collecting two knocks and two RBIs. In the 6th inning, Robisnon would add on an insurance run by depositing a solo home-run over the LF wall. Delivering a well-leveraged barrel through the zone, the RHH showed an aptitude to work to all-fields. There is still plenty of projection remaining on both sides of the ball within the frame/profile.
Cannon Goldin, OF, 2025, Buford
It was a big-time all around night at the plate for the two-time Prep Baseball All-American and Ole Miss commit as he put together a 3-hit night in a huge region win. Bat speed was on display early for Goldin as he jumped all over the first pitch he saw on the night for a pull-side 2B. Quiet actions pre-pitch allow Goldin to pick up both velocity and spin out of the hand paired with excellent plate coverage through the zone. The senior outfielder would flash the plus run tool in his next AB, putting down a 4.06 H-1st on an infield 1B without getting the best start out of the box. The big night was capped off with a clutch RBI pull-side 1B late as Buford scored runs in three consecutive innings to cap off a big region win.
Lio Garcia, SS, 2028, Buford
One of the highest ceilings in this freshman class continues to show tremendous polish this spring as he’s become a massive piece for Buford in a hurry. Batting leadoff for a potent lineup, Garcia would come through with 3 big hits on the night including a pair of 2B and scoring three runs. The barrel feel already for the shortstop is among the best in the class with budding power and ability to stay well-balanced through the zone. Nearly took one out to RCF with his last swing of the day as he drove it off the wall for a double. High-level instincts on the base paths, would score the winning run of a passed ball that barely got away. Glove could be legitimately plus by junior season if not sooner. Effortless actions moving laterally with soft hands and butter-smooth transfers. Made multiple plays on the night looks easy and provides tremendous upside at a premium position for the Wolves. Garcia rounds the profile out with high makeup as he's already become a vocal leader in the dugout and in the field. Couldn’t be more bullish with the upside long term.
Ayden Lockett, OF/RHP, 2026, Buford
One of the top remaining juniors on the board in the peach state, Lockett continues to provide a major impact for Buford as they look great in region play so far. A 3-hit night out of the 2 hole for Lockett as the 1-2-3 in the lineup for the Wolves is as talented as you’ll find, pairing with Lio Garcia and Cannon Goldin. Compact, direct path to the path with great bat-to-ball skills allow Lockett to show an all-fields approach with a strong aptitude to work backside and spoil good pitches. The true two-way would hop on the mound and give Buford four big innings out of the pen as well on the night. FB up to 88, living 85-87 with good arm-side life. Tighter CB at 73-75 has command throughout the zone and showed ability to land early at will to get ahead in the count. Generates soft contact and groundballs throughout the outing while working out of some jams. The junior will be pivotal as Buford looks to lock down a potential region championship.
