Oahu Open ID: Quick Hits

Brett Harrison
West Coast Supervisor

The Oahu Open ID took place on Wednesday, October 8th at the Pearl City High School. This event will feature a collection of promising prospects from Hawaii's 2026–2030 graduating classes, each aiming to display the progress they have made over the course of the busy summer schedule.

The Oahu Open ID allowed our staff to evaluate prospects before the winter offseason. The event served as an identifier for future invite-only events such as the West Coast Games, Top Prospect Games, Future Games, and more.

All highlights from the Fall ID will be promoted on PrepBaseball.com. Prep Baseball is subscribed to by nearly 1000 colleges and pro scouts across the country. All results will be posted on the site; along with players’ highlights.

OAHU OPEN ID: QUICK HITS

Jack Geier 1B / RHP / Punahou, HI / 2027

The 2025 Future Gamer put together one of the top overall performances at the Oahu Open ID, finding himself at or near the top over almost every category that applied to him. Geier improved in almost every stat category, including Exit Velocity - 98.0 mph - and Infield Velocity - 86 mph. The actions on both sides of the ball continue to trend in the right direction with a loud BP Session that followed his defensive performance that saw him earn a share of the Top Infield Velocity. This is a player we expect to continue seeing his game progress over the next few years and should be a player on your radar as we continue to see jumps in his game.

Noah Kawakami C / 2B / Pearl City, HI / 2028

Arguably the biggest winner from the Oahu Open ID, Kawakami had himself a day. Earning the Top Catcher Pop Time with a Prep Baseball Verified 1.90 with each throw on the bag, the tools are present while still possessing a youthful frame and build. The switch-hitter then showed off his ability at the plate, producing easy, consistent line drives from both sides of the plate that we expect to transition into more power as he adds size and strength. The sophomore adds to an already stellar Hawaii 2028 catching group with more to come as he continues to develop physically.

Maximilian DeTrinis C / RHP / Damien Memorial, HI / 2027

The physical Future Games representative for Hawaii continued to impress with his performance at the Oahu Open ID with loud barrels to the big part of the yard while showing improved power t the opposite field. There is a lot to like about DeTrinis as a blue collar type player behind the plate that puts in the work to improve each time out with us.

Micah Bennett LHP / OF / Punahou, HI / 2027

Another winner at the Oahu Open ID was lefthander, Micah Bennett, who flashed present feel for his three pitch mix that he commanded in the zone with his fastball running up to 83.4 mph, showing present arm side life. His changeup flashed similar actions with a heavier finish, while his curveball had present depth, tunneling off his fastball. Their is a lot to like about this 2027 as he seems to just be scratching the surface fo what’s to come.

Luke Lafata SS / 3B / Mililani, HI / 2029

The 2029 had his advanced actions on full display at the Oahu Open ID, showing off his present feel the shortstop position where he flashed easy lateral range to go with his confident actions through the ball. At the plate, he continued to show off that confidence with barrel after barrel during his Batting Practice Session. This is a player still youthful in his appearance and build, so you can expect to see big jumps made in his game over the next few years.

Brodi Kansana OF / LHP / Molokai High School, HI / 2029

With the two-way capability being more important now than ever, the 2029 showed that he has the projectability to do both beyond the high school level. His present feel at the plate with an ability to use all fields with a smooth, balanced swing from the left side. On the mound, he showed off a fastball, curveball, slider mix that he commanded in the zone with his fastball showing present arm side run to go with his curveball that showed more depth and his slider that worked better off his fastball with later, tighter sweep action. Kansana will be another intruiging Hawaii 2029 follow over the next few years.

Amar Brooks OF / RHP / Saint Louis, HI / 2026

The unsigned Senior showed off his elite level athleticism, running an event best 6.50 VALD 60 Time that we expect to amplify every part of his game. Along with the Top 60 Time, he also earned the Top Max Vertical Jump at 25.5 inches. At the plate, he showed off his ability to find consistent barrels with an 89.0 mph Average Exit Velocity, proving he understands where his barrel is at in the zone. With athletes at a premium in today’s speed and power driven game, this is a senior that could be an impact type player at the next level with his game changing speed and athleticism.
