LHP Casey Kempner (Glenbrook North HS, IL), in an unusual way has caught some attention in the recruiting world. He committed to Heartland CC as a rising sophomore, bucking the trend of holding out for four-year options until his senior year, but the 2016 prospect has added a wrinkle by saying he will attend Kentucky after his time at Heartland. He’s not the first player to have a commitment set for when he’s done with junior college, but you would be hard pressed to find someone that has done it with two years of high school baseball left. Kempner didn’t play for Glenbrook North last spring, instead playing in the Wisconsin Hitter’s spring league.
