2025 MSHSAA Team Rankings: Preseason Edition

Prep Baseball Missouri Staff

The Missouri high school baseball kicks off on March 20th, opening day for regular season action under MSHSAA regulations. Leading up to opening day, we published our team previews ahead of the 2025 spring season, touching on programs spanning all state classifications, counting down to the official Prep Baseball Missouri Preseason Team Rankings.

Our rankings are broken up into two divisions: large school and small schools. We classify the 'large' schools as those residing in Class 5 & 6, while the small schools make up the remaining MSHSAA classifications. We rank what we believe to be the top teams in the state at that level, as well as highlighting several 'On Deck' teams.

Below you will find our initial team rankings for the 2025 season for Large Schools and Small Schools.

During the season, you can catch all the action by following us on Twitter @PrepBaseballMO

2025 Prep Baseball Missouri Large School Rankings

Francis Howell claims the top spot in our 2025 Preseason Large School Rankings, poised for another championship run. With the likes of Dylan Curtis (Missouri), Eli Skidmore (St. Louis), Jake Brettschneider (Missouri), Jackson Vaughn (Wichita State), and Leo Humbert (Missouri) leading the charge, the Vikings showcase impressive depth and skill on both sides of the ball. As they set their sights on Ozark, they emerge as a strong favorite to hoist the trophy next season.

Nixa secures the No. 2 spot, bringing back a strong core from last season’s district runner-up squad that finished 23-15. With their sights set on a state title, the Eagles are primed for a deep postseason run. Offensively, Wyatt Vincent (Missouri State), Caeden Cloud (Kentucky), and Adam McKnight will lead the charge, while Colin Kelley (Maryville) and Jackson Gamble (Missouri Southern) provide stability on the mound, making Nixa a formidable contender in 2025.

A pair of Kansas City powerhouses, Lee’s Summit West and Staley, claim the No. 3 and 4 spots in our rankings. Lee’s Summit West came up just short in 2024, falling in the district title game, but with key returners like Tyler Wood (Tennessee), Jackson Akin (Oklahoma), and Hayden Sharp (Missouri), the Titans are once again a formidable contender.

Across the metro, Staley brings back a strong core from last season’s 27-10 squad. Led by seniors Brody Irlbeck (Iowa), Kyle Pearcy, Easton Phillippe (Wichita State), and Jake Thomas (Butler), the Falcons boast experience and depth. With a talented group of juniors and sophomores stepping into key roles, Staley is poised to make a serious push for Ozark in 2025.

Rounding out the top five, Fort Zumwalt West boasts a roster as talented as any in the state. Led by a dynamic junior trio—Nolan Sissom (Missouri), Brendan Pyle (Loyola Marymount), and Anden Hyde—alongside seasoned seniors Brody Signorelli (Crowder), Carter Perry (Jefferson College), and Kyle Feiste (Crowder), the Jaguars have the firepower to make a serious impact. Don’t be surprised if they turn heads and make a deep run in 2025.

2025 Prep Baseball Missouri Small School Rankings

The reigning Class 4 State Champions, Blair Oaks, locks in the No. 1 spot in our 2025 Preseason Small School Rankings. With a roster packed with experience and championship pedigree, the Falcons return the majority of their 2024 title-winning squad, poised for another deep run. Seniors Nolan Laughlin (Lincoln), Riley Schnieders (State Fair CC), Nolan DeMilia (Moberly Area CC), Zane Halford, and Evan McCullough bring veteran leadership, while rising talents like Hayden Lackman, Warren Davis, and Wyatt Libbert are set to play key roles in Blair Oaks' title defense. Hungry for back-to-back crowns, the Falcons look to remain the team to beat.

After a tough exit in the 2024 state quarterfinals, Lone Jack enters the 2025 season ranked No. 2 in our Small School rankings. The Mules are led by one of the state’s most electrifying arms in LHP Ethan Rogers, whose stock continues to soar following a dominant showing at the Super 60 in Chicago this winter. Alongside Rogers, Luke Throgmorton, Landen Danuser (North Central Missouri), and Brett Nicholson (Crowder) will be key contributors as Lone Jack sets its sights on a championship run.

Benton lands at No. 3 in our rankings after an impressive run to the Class 4 state championship game last season. While they return key experience from their 2024 playoff push, the Cardinals will rely on young talent stepping up to keep their momentum going in 2025. Leading the charge are Chris Coy (Omaha), Myles Bachali, and Zaidyn Woodward, who will be joined by rising prospects Xander Tiller and Porter McCarthy who look to make an immediate impact as Benton looks to take the final step and claim the title this season.
