Rawlings Tigers Scout Day: Quick Hits

On Saturday, February 8th, the Prep Baseball Missouri staff traveled to the Rawlings Training Center in Chesterfield, MO to host the annual Rawlings Tigers Scout Day. This event, featured 80+ players from the Rawlings Tigers program in attendence.
All of our events offer players the opportunity to update their recruiting resume and showcase their talents in front of our staff. We also use these events as identifiers for future invite-only events, like the Preseason All-State, our summer Top Prospect Games, and the prestigious Prep Baseball Future Games that takes place at the tail end of the summer. Earlier, our staff rolled out the day’s statistical standouts in leaderboard format within our ‘Stat Story’, which you can find HERE. Today, after combing through our notes from the day, we’ve compiled some of the event’s standouts within these ‘Quick Hits’. Read below to learn about 8 names that popped to our staff from Saturday's trip to Chesterfield.
QUICK HITS
+ RHP Cameron Fuqua (Christian Brothers College, 2026) emerged as one of the standout upperclassmen of the day. The 5-foot-10, 190-pound uncommitted junior showcased an impressive fastball ranging from 86-88 mph, featuring life through the zone and notable heavy 2-seam action with arm side run. Complementing his fastball, Fuqua threw a late-breaking slider at 75-76 mph, consistently locating it for strikes.

+ One of the most impressive and consistent rounds of BP this preseason came from 1B Payne Kent (Lafayette, 2027). Standing strong at 6-foot, 220 pounds, Kent unleashed powerful swings with clear aggression and intent, consistently driving the ball with authority to the pull side. His hardest-hit ball of the day was a 102.5 mph missile that traveled 358 feet. With significant middle-of-the-order power potential, Kent is undoubtedly a player to watch in the ‘27 class.

Put together one of the loudest and most consistent rounds of BP of the preseason, regardless of class.

+ LHP Logan Hansel (Union, 2026) is another notable upperclass arm from this look. Standing at 6-foot-2, 196 pounds, Hansel moves with ease and control on the mound, generating effortless velocity with his fastball ranging from 81-83 mph, featuring arm-side run. His smooth delivery hints at even more velocity to come. The junior also showcased two distinct breaking balls: a sharp slider at 70-71 mph and a curveball with solid depth at 68-69 mph. His tumbling changeup at 74-75 mph displayed swing-and-miss potential.

Smooth, 6-foot-2, 196-pound lefty with potential for more. Pounded the zone with a 4 pitch mix, showing swing and miss potential

+ RHP/INF Asher Krimmel (Lafayette, 2028) was one of the day's biggest standouts in his Prep Baseball debut. Krimmel kicked off the day with an explosive round of BP, utilizing his long levers (6-foot-3, 170 pounds) to average a 91.1 mph exit velocity per batted ball, thanks to exceptional bat speed, lightning-quick hands, and an advanced feel for the barrel. His best shot traveled 342 feet to the left-center gap, reaching 97.4 mph. The freshman also displayed impressive arm strength on the infield, firing an 84 mph bullet across the diamond. On the mound, Krimmel’s fastball sat at 82-83 mph, complemented by a slider and changeup mix at 73-74 mph and 74-77 mph, respectively. With impressive tools on both sides of the ball and significant upside, Krimmel is a must see in the ‘28 class.

'28 | RHP/INF | Asher Krimmel (Lafayette)
The 6-foot-3, 170-pound two-way was a big winner on both sides of the ball, emerging as a name to know in the state's '28 class.

+ C/1B Blake Hollrah (Orchard Farm, 2027) is another physical bat with significant middle-of-the-order power potential. During Saturday’s trip to Chesterfield, he consistently hammered loud barrels to both the middle and pull side of the field. Standing at 6-foot-4, 195 pounds, Hollrah’s frame offers plenty of projection, and he has all the tools for even more power to develop as he continues to polish his game.

+ OF Nick Schultheiss (Lafayette, 2026) is a powerful, 5-foot-10, 185-pound athlete who showcased impressive bat strength at this event. His hardest-hit ball came off the barrel at 99 mph, traveling 338 feet, according to TrackMan. With a quick, rotational swing, Schultheiss primarily worked the pull side of the field, averaging 91.9 mph per batted ball. The junior also displayed solid arm strength, recording an 83 mph throw from the outfield.

+ C/1B Noah Ice (Lafayette, 2026) and C/OF Ty DuKate (St. Charles West) both turned in standout rounds of BP worth noting. Ice, who stands at 6-foot-2, 220-pounds, registered a top exit velocity of 100 mph, with an impressive average of 92.9 mph, sending his best ball 380 feet—ranking as the farthest of the day. DuKate wasn’t far behind, reaching 97.9 mph, and his hardest-hit ball traveled 352 feet.
+ INF/RHP Caleb Walz (Marquette, 2026) and INF/RHP Liam Matthews (Rockwood Summit, 2028) are two physical righties that featured mid-80s fastballs on the mound with strong command of their secondary pitches.
