College Crosscheck: Week Seven

After traveling from Nashville to Athens for Week Six of College Crosscheck, I continued into the Sunshine State for Week Seven. Starting in Fort Myers for a mid-week matchup between Florida International and Florida Gulf Coast, then onto Miami to see a top junior college arm, and ending in Tampa with American Conference powers East Carolina and South Florida, it was another awesome week of evaluating some of the top prospects for this year’s MLB draft. As for tools and talent, here’s what I saw…

No. 8 Carter Stewart, RHP, Eastern Florida State College- First ever look at the 6-foot-6, 220 pound, large framed right-hander with long levers and a well-known draft history. Stewart has some of the longest forearms I’ve ever seen on a baseball player. The type of length that is usually found in the NBA. He showed a cross body delivery, landing off-balance and in poor fielding position. Flinched often at the ball off the bat.
