Over the past weekend, players worked out at Pro Teach in Etobicoke, home of the Midget Elite Leagues Etobicoke Rangers, headed up by Denny Berni and Matt Ferreria. Berni established Pro Teach Baseball in 1993 after completing a professional baseball career with the Boston Red Sox organization.

At the workout there were a few players who impressed, as well as some young 2017’s to add to your follow list. We take a quick recap of some of the top players who worked out at Pro Teach in Etobicoke.

Top Pitching Prospects

Austin Gerow, LHP, 2015

6-foot-3 lefty who has committed to University of British Columbia. Compact delivery with some deception. Fastball was 82-84 mph with some downward tilt. Filled up the zone. Showed feel and command with offspeed. Curveball had 1/7 shape with proper rotation, sat 73 mph. Changeup had some arm-side run at 72-76 mph, threw for strikes when kept arm speed. A follow guy of out of university for pro scouts where UBC has been known to produce some quality left-handers.

Top Position Prospects

Justin McKenzie, OF, 2016

6-foot-3, 175-pound switch hitter from Mississauga. Athletic frame with strength, hit from both sides of the plate. Tall setup from both sides, was quick and short to the ball. Actions were crude in the outfield but with the body, size, and athleticism, a few adjustments and Mckenzie could turn the page and let his skills take over.
