South Williamsport 2, Sayre Area 1

South Williamsport (16-4) senior Peter Sinibaldi's one out, bases loaded single scored pinch runner Tyler Trojan from 3rd base with the winning run in walk off fashion on Wednesday earning the Mountaineers the PIAA District 4 - AA title with a 2-1 win over Sayre Area (12-8). 

Senior Tripp Breen, a St. Bonaventure recruit, went the distance for the win on just 78 pitches. The righty four hits and one run while striking out 10 without allowing a walk. Sinibaldi finished the night 2-for-4 with the game winning RBI. Breen also went 2-for-3 at the plate.

James Esposito was the hard luck loser for Sayre Area allowing just two runs in 6.1 innings of work. 2020 IF Quinn Hanafin (2-for-3, R) and 2022 C Brayden Horton (1-for-3, 2B, RBI) led the Sayre Area offense.

Both teams will advance to the PIAA state tournament next week.
