The 2015 Overall Rankings have been updated, reflecting the addition of states to Prep Baseball Report’s coverage area as well as the recent rise of some prospects. Below are several players that have stood out recently, many of which did so in front of hundreds of scouts in Jupiter, FL, at the World Wood Bat Championship.
Sam Bordner, RHP, Bloom-Carroll HS, OH
Bordner’s performance at the World Wood Bat Championship in Jupiter, FL, put him squarely on scouts’ radars. Pitching for the Kentucky Baseball Club, the hulking 6-foot-6, 220-pound Bordner came out the gates hot, sitting 89-91 in the first inning, and topping out at 92. In the second inning, the Louisville recruit worked at 89-90 before dipping a few ticks in the third and fourth innings. In the fifth inning, Bordner, was still pitching at 87-89. Early on, Bordner also flashed a solid 78-82 mph slider, to go along with a promising 81-83 mph changeup. In 4.2 innings, Bordner recorded four strikeouts in a 4-0 loss.
