LOS ANGELES, CALIF. - Each week during the high school season we will announce the California Player of the Week covering the action from the previous week. Numerous players across the state continue to put up impressive numbers both as position players and pitchers on the mound. This year we will be selecting one Pitcher of the Week based on recommendations from high school coaches from California. 

Continuing from previous seasons, we will also be highlighting others players from across the state in our Prep Baseball California Diamond Notes which will be released weekly. Our Diamond Notes will highlight other players nominated by high school coaches that are deserving of recognition that were not named Player of the Week.

PITCHER OF THE WEEK

2025 RHP Josh Jannicelli of Cardinal Newman HS has been named the California Pitcher of the Week for Week Four of the high school baseball season. 

Janniceli was lights out against the No. 3 team in the state, Valley Christian, helping lead Cardinal Newman to the road upset win. The UCSB commit tossed a complete game two-hitter as the Cardinals grinded out a 1-0 win. Jannicelli finished with strikeouts with two walks on 94 pitches and had a 68% strike percentage in the game. Janniceli gave up lead off singles in both the sixth and seventh innings but the runners stranded at first and second base respectively. 

For the season, Janniceli has allowed just six hits, one earned run, five walks, and has amassed 25 strikeouts in just 14.2 innings pitched. He has a record of 2-2 with a 0.48 ERA so far.

We salute senior Josh Jannicelli, on earning the Prep Baseball California Pitcher of the Week.
