PEARL CITY, HI - The Hawaii Preseason All-State, one of the premier events on the Prep Baseball calendar, was held on Saturday, January 17 and Sunday, January 18th at Pearl City High School in Oahu, HI. Axel Akau 3B / 1B / Waiakea, HI / 2026The Yavapai recruit continues to impress each time out with us and did so once again at the Hawaii Preseason All-State, showing off his present power tool that saw him earn one of the events top overall Exit Velocities at 99.9 mph. The present physical size, plus the ability for him to add even more size and strength only proves that there is still plenty of room to grow in his game. His athleticism around the bag at first base also continues to trend with steady improvements in the full work as he provides a large target for his infielders to confidently work with. |
Jerrell Alston OF / RHP / Waiakea, HI / 2026The Sacramento State signee continue to prove himself as one of the top overall players in the Aloha State as he put together one of the events top overall performances that included a stand out performance during the position player workout as he put up the events, top exit TrackMan velocity at 103.3 mph. In today’s game, where you see a lot of eyes attracted to the top number, a number to always follow is the average exit of velocity to show how consistent a player continues to find the barrel and Alston‘s 94.1 mph average exit of velocity proves just that. There’s a lot to like about 6’4/180.3 Senior, and you should not be surprised if you see his name end up on more than a few draft boards. |
Kasyn Amazaki C / 1B / Iolani, HI / 2026The Future Games along put together another stand out performance at the Hawaii Preseason All-State with a loud BP session that saw him earn a 98.1 mph TrackMan Exit Velocity. Amasaki has always been able to swing it, but the part of his game that we look to see him improve on was behind the plate, and he did just that as he said two new personal best with a 74 mph Catcher Velocity to go along with a consistent 1.94 second Pop Time. Keep an eye on this one to potentially be one of the next Hawaii prospects off the board with his improved ability behind the plate to go along with his present hit tool. |
Jack Geier 1B / RHP / Punahou School, HI / 2027Another Future Games alum that showed improvement in his game on both sides of the ball as he put together another stand out batting practice session that saw him leave the field multiple times once he got settled in. We continue to see his defensive actions trend in the right direction with improved fluidity through the feeling process as well as improved lateral range and maintaining his smoothness through throughout. With the game valuing the two-way player now more than ever, Geier can locate as fastball as well as spin the breaking ball that topped at 2731 RPMs as well as a slider that has spun up to 2971 RPMs in previous events. You can expect Geier to put together a stand out season for Punahou this Spring. |

Cole Hatayama C / OF / Hilo, HI / 2026The Hilo High product put together arguably his best ever performance with us after putting up multiple personal bests during the Position Player Workout, including new best in Hand Speed - 20.5 mph, Max Exit Velocity - 93.1 mph, Avg. Exit Velocity - 86.7, Max Distance - 365 ft. and VALD 60 Time - 6.96. He continued his performance into the live gameplay where he bared a loud double to left centerfield. |
Kaden Paoa Itamura SS / RHP / Kauai High School, HI / 2026In his first event out with us, Itamura put together an excellent performance as he produced the line dry filled BP session after running a VALD 60 Time of 6.92, along with putting up an 85 mph Infield Velocity. On the mound, he ran his fastball up to 84.6 mph with natural heaviness to go with the change up that he flashed the feel for and a developing curveball. |
Haena Kaʻaihue LHP / OF / King Kekaulike, HI / 2026Ka’aihue announced this present as an uncommitted player to know in Hawaii’s 2026 class with arguably the top overall performance at the Hawaii Preseason All-State. At 6’2/178, he showed off present tools on both sides of the ball with plenty of room, still to grow in his physical stature that we expect to only amplify each part of his game. Finding himself at or near the top of almost every leaderboard category, he earned an impressive 101.6 mph TrackMan Exit Velocity along with his 88 mph Outfield Velocity. We saw a number of two-way players this past weekend and the King Kekaulike product proved to be the most college ready of them all with his fastball running up to 86.2 mph with a developing secondary mix that flashes of being able to work off of his fastball. There is a lot to like about this two-way as we will continue to roll out more information on him in the coming weeks. |
Jerome Kalanui OF / Maui, HI / 2027The 2025 West Coast Games standout showed once again that he is a legitimate left handed bat that proved it not only during the Position Player Workout, where put together a massive performance with not only a 99.4 mph Max TrackMan Exit Velocity, but a 95.8 mph Average TrackMan Exit Velocity helping him earn an elite 100% on the TrackMan Hard Hit % metric. He continued to show his ability out to play during the live gameplay where he barrelled a hard line drive to the opposite field for a single. The Maui High School product is going to be one that should be on more than a few radars heading into his Junior season. |
Ka'alekahi Kuhaulua OF / LHP / Kailua, HI / 2027Rankings OverallRank: 105 / POS: 25
One of the, if not the, top prospects in Hawaii’s 2027 Class, who remains Uncommitted (for now), proved why he he continues to find his name in the discussions of the top overall player in this Junior class. The present tools, feel at the plate and obvious confidence in each part of his game makes Kuhaulua a players that is on more than a few radars with his commitment expected to come in the near future. The multiple new personal bests, including his TrackMan Exit Velocity - 96.5 mph, 80% Hard Hit %, 72.5 mph Bat Speed and 90 mph Outfield Velocity, to name a few. A player who already has a ton of excitement around him, trending in almost every metric in his game, proves that he is a player who we project to only continue making his case for the top spot in the class. |
Taye Marxen C / 1B / Mililani High School, HI / 2026Another winner at the Hawaii Preseason All-State was Taye Marxen. The Mililani/Hawaii Elite product impressed on both sides of the ball during his first time out with us. Getting his day started with a Prep Baseball verified 1.96 Pop Time to go along with a 75 mph Catcher Velocity, he quickly proved that he has the tools behind the plate that will translate to the next level. On the offensive side of the ball he put together, arguably, the top BP session of the event as he homered six times in a row to finish his round, while earning a 96.1 mph Max TrackMan Exit Velocity. His weekend wasn’t over after the BP round as he continued to show his ability during the live gameplay where he added another home run along with an RBI single. This is another uncommitted ‘26 that we don’t expect to be on the board much longer. |
Josyah-Michael Napoleon-Umeda OF / LHP / Honokaa, HI / 2026It would be hard to argue with top In-Game performance going to Napoleon-Umeda, after producing a loud BP Session during the Position Player Workout with a 98.1 mph Max TrackMan Exit Velocity as he added an opposite field single during the live gameplay. But, on the mound is where he shine. Striking out his first 6 batters faced, he ended his outing striking out 8 of the 10 batters he faced with his mostly fastball/curveball mix. Though the size is compact, he plays a fearless style of baseball that translates well to the next level. |
Kaikoa Nobriga OF / RHP / Kamehameha, HI / 2026The two-sport athlete and 2025 West Coast Games alum continues to see his game trend, even from our most recent event in Waimea, he continues to progress on both sides of the ball with his game. That progress seems to mirror his physical development as he now stands at a Prep Baseball Verified 6’1/198, and we saw it translate into multiple new personal bests including a 91.3 mph Average TrackMan Exit Velocity as well as an 88 mph Outfield Velocity. |
Jayden Salazar SS / 2B / Honokaa, HI / 2027The HWBA product and 2025 West Coast Games alum has continued to see his game trend over the past year and this past weekend at the Hawaii Preseason All-State was no different where he put up multiple new personal best and then capitalized on it with a barreled ground rule double to centerfield. His 6’0/145 frame still has plenty of room to fill out with sides and strength, and we expect that to only amplify each part of his game that has already shown advanced actions on both sides of the ball. Is 92 mph Max TrackMan Exit Velocity and 85 mph average TrackMan velocity, along with his 100% Sweet Spot Percentage during his batting practice session proves that he already has advanced field for the barrel with much more of his game expected still to come. |
Kea Sheldon SS / 2B / Maui, HI / 2027Stand out middle infielder and 2025 West Coast Games alum out of Maui, Sheldon is another winner from the Hawaii Preseason All-State where he racked up multiple new personal best, including his 91.9 mph TrackMan Exit Velocity along with his 88.2 mph average exit of velocity, proving that he understands how to consistently find the barrel. He continued to show his ability at the plate during the live gameplay portion of the event where he turned around a fastball for a single to centerfield. Defensively, you can see the obvious confidence he plays with and rightfully so with efficient, fluid actions through the fielding process with improved lateral range that was on display during the infield workout. Keep an eye on Sheldon as a player who we expect to continue making big jumps as he adds more physicality to his frame. |

After getting settled in during his batting practice session, he was able to get into a few balls that showed his ability to find the barrel. He carried that session into the live gameplay portion of the event where he went big fly to the opposite field, proving that he has power to all fields with more expected to come. |

He continued to prove his ability at the play into the live gameplay portion of the event where he turned around a fastball for a line drive single to centerfield.
