Best of the Fall 2026: Infield Arm Velocity Leaders

As part of our Best of the Fall 2026 series, today we shift the focus to the defensive side of the ball, highlighting infield arm velocity from fall events across North Carolina. These metrics were collected during live defensive workouts, where infielders worked through game-like ground ball sequences designed to simulate real in-game throws.

Arm velocity was recorded using a Stalker Radar Gun, with players making throws from third base, shortstop, or first base, depending on their primary position. This setup allows for a realistic evaluation of arm strength as it translates to functional defensive play rather than isolated throws.

While arm velocity provides valuable insight into an infielder’s throwing strength, it does not tell the full defensive story. Evaluations also account for quickness, rhythm, carry, and accuracy, all of which play critical roles in overall infield defense. The leaderboards below highlight the top arm velocity numbers from the fall, identifying infielders whose arm strength stood out while still being considered within the broader context of defensive ability.
