Millbrook Dominates Cary in Season Opener with 12-2 Victory

Millbrook High School – February 26, 2024

Millbrook opened its season with an emphatic 12-2 victory over Cary on Wednesday night. After falling behind 1-0 in the top of the first, the Wildcats responded with a dominant nine-run bottom half, seizing control early and never looking back.

Game Recap

Cary struck first as Andrew Mohler drew a walk, advanced on a Will Vetter double, and scored on a passed ball. However, Millbrook quickly turned the tide, capitalizing on walks, hit-by-pitches, and errors. A key RBI single by Liam Clay and a three-run double from Smith Dickinson highlighted the explosive inning.

The Wildcats tacked on additional runs in the second, third, and fifth, with Dickinson contributing a sacrifice fly and Jack Strom crossing home on a wild pitch to seal the run-rule victory. On the mound, Conner Thomas was dominant, striking out ten in four innings of work.
