Scouting ReportS
2.19.17 - 6-foot-2, 180-pound, athletically built, well-proportioned two-way prospect. Highly projectable right-handed pitcher. Arm is extremely quick and loose out of a high ¾ window. Delivery works with smooth rhythm, repeats, stays on-line, lands square, finishes athletically and regular effort throughout. Fastball works downhill, thrown for strikes at the bottom of the zone and sat 84-85 mph, touched 86. Slider, works 11/5, short break, occasionally between curveball/slider type action, 71-74 mph. Changeup, sat 69-71 mph. Offensively, right-handed hitter, open, tall setup, stride gets back to even and average balance through contact. Fluid rhythm, loose hands, flashed quick twitch and bat speed. Short to the ball, extension through contact and a gap-to-gap approach. Defensively, feet work fluidly in the outfield, plays through the baseball and throws flashed carry, clocked at 84 mph. 7.09 runner in the 60, laser-timed.
6.8.16 - Lanky athletic two-way prospect, 6-foot-1, 177-pounds. Right-handed hitter, athletic setup, open stance, smooth loading action, leg-lift stride. Loose, whippy hands, above average bat speed. Pull side contact, loose barrel, 78 mph exit velocity from the tee. Outfield arm carried, loose and long arm action, 82 mph from the outfield. Actions played through athletically, showed good feet. 7.13 runner in the 60. On the mound arm showed some life, athletic arm, high ¾ slot, loose action. Fastball showed some life, control at the top half, 80-82 mph. Curveball has 12/6 shape, flashed sharp action, 66-70 mph. Changeup worked at 73-76 mph.
OUTLOOK:
The athletically built two-way prospect is one of the top available prospects still on the market. Patterson may profile best on the mound; possesses a fast arm, repeatable delivery and looks to have plenty more in the tank. Look for Patterson to be one of the main arms and hit in the middle of the order for Kenwood once again this spring.
