Each week throughout the high school season, we will announce the Mizuno Pitcher and Player of the Week, recognizing standout performances from across the state. With numerous players excelling both at the plate and on the mound, this award will be based on nominations from high school coaches statewide. A special thank you to Mizuno for sponsoring these awards and to the coaches for their nominations.

Additionally, we will continue our Alabama Diamond Notes, released every Wednesday, to highlight other deserving players nominated by coaches who were not selected as the Mizuno Pitcher or Player of the Week.

Mizuno Week 1 Player of the Week

Dillon Adkins OF / LHP / Bob Jones, AL / 2025 Rankings  StateRank: 11 / POS: 4 OverallRank: 288 / POS: 55 Dillon Adkins kicked off the high school season in dominant fashion, showcasing his all-around offensive talent with a scorching .429 batting average (9-for-21) in Week 1. The slugger displayed his power by belting three home runs and a double while driving in 10 runs and scoring 10 times himself. His disciplined approach at the plate earned him five walks, contributing to an impressive on-base presence, and he added three stolen bases to round out his dynamic performance. Adkins’ red-hot start has set the tone for what looks to be a standout season ahead.
