Southeast Super Sophomore Games: Alabama Quick Hits, Pitchers

EMERSON, GA – The inaugural Southeast Super Sophomore Games took place August 2-3 at the renowned LakePoint Sports Complex, bringing together over 230 of the top uncommitted 2028 prospects from across the Deep South.
Alabama standouts made the most of the stage, turning in strong showings during both the workout portion and a pair of highly competitive games.
In this breakdown, we highlight some of the standout performances from Alabama primarily pitchers who impressed against high-level competition. Stay tuned in the coming days as we continue our positional coverage of Alabama prospects from the event.

+ RHP Weston Todd (Madison Academy, 2028) continues to assert himself as one of the top arms in the rising sophomore class in Alabama. A 6-foot, 188-pounder, Todd was filthy during his two innings of work showcasing a lively FB and a hard-biting SL that collected numerous whiffs in deep counts. Using a compact, two piece arm action with good quickness, the right-hander consistently lived 87-89 mph with the arm-side running heater that showed quality command to locate to the glove side of the zone on a steeper plane. The SL has real teeth to it, spinning a firm 77-80 mph with late, snappy bite that helped tunnel off the FB. Appeared to be tough to pick up out of the hand with numerous uncomfortable swings and takes during at-bats. Also flashed an arm-side fading CH that ranged 82-83 mph. Impressive arm talent to follow over the next year.
