East Coast Super Sophomore Games: Team NC Standouts & Statistical Recap

The 2025 East Coast Super Sophomore Games marked the second edition of what has quickly become the premier summer scouting event for rising Sophomore prospects. Hosted at UNC’s Boshamer Stadium and Burlington Athletic Park, the event welcomed top talent from 10 territories, with players representing 12 states across the Northeast and Southeast.

The format included a full workout day on Friday, followed by gameplay scheduled across Saturday and Sunday. Despite weather disruptions throughout the weekend, Team North Carolina and Team Select—featuring over 30 of the top rising sophomores from the state—completed their full slate of games.

Friday’s workout at the University of North Carolina gave position players a chance to showcase athleticism, collect verified stats and advanced analytics, and go through on-field evaluations with batting practice and defensive work. Game play provided additional opportunities for prospects to rotate across positions and compete in a continuous batting order, allowing Prep Baseball scouts and evaluators a comprehensive look at each player.

As we turn our attention to the numbers and key performances, we highlight notable standouts and storylines from Team North Carolina and Team Select.

Ryder Anderson, RHP, DH Conley HS, 2028

Intriguing outing. Attacked the zone, showing some feel for moving the fastball in and out. Secondary pitches worked from the same window and had late action. Lots of uncomfortable takes and awkward swings in his 2 innings of work. At 6-foot, 195 pounds, it is still a very youthful look. Fastball ranged 82-86. Breaking ball at 73-75. 10/4 tilt. Stuff may have been a tick down in this outing, but he showed good feel for adjusting and attacking hitters with a plan. Clean arm. Easy to see projection coming in the near future. Fastball at 86-87, 2111rpm. Ball had sink and run, creating soft, ground ball action in the zone. Did get chase off the plate and freeze when locating in to hitters. Solid feel for pitching to both sides. Slider is a potential weapon at higher levels, sitting 74-79, 2335rpm. Length over depth but showed the potential to manipulate the tilt pending hitter and situation. High caliber follow in the coming years.

Solid mover down the mound with excellent body control and feel. Repeats the high-¾ slot. Fastball at 84-86, 2187rpm. Ride and run through the zone. Action to the arm side worked out of the hand. Curveball at 71-74, 1900rpm. Rolling breaking ball with 11/5 tilt. Good feel for landing and expanding. High floor on his prospect as he shows feel for what he is doing with solid stuff. As he ticks up his movement pattern, the stuff could take big jumps in the coming years.

Graham Virag, OF/INF/RHP/LHP, Cardinal Gibbons, 2028

Intriguing prospect. Athletic in a lanky 6-foot-1, 168 pounds. Profiles as a position player first but is intriguing on the mound. Pitched as both a RHP and LHP. LHP is still developing and well behind the righty handed side but it should be a fun follow. Right handed, fastball peaked at 86, 2448rpm. Solid ride in the zone, peaking at 23.1in of induced vertical break. Fastball jumped on hitters in his inning of work. Breaking ball at 69-72, 2141rpm. More length than depth.
