Each week throughout the high school season, we will announce the Mizuno Pitcher and Player of the Week, recognizing standout performances from across the state. With numerous players excelling both at the plate and on the mound, this award will be based on nominations from high school coaches statewide. A special thank you to Mizuno for sponsoring these awards and to the coaches for their nominations.

Additionally, we will continue our Alabama Diamond Notes, released every Wednesday, to highlight other deserving players nominated by coaches who were not selected as the Mizuno Pitcher or Player of the Week.

Mizuno Week 5 Pitcher of the Week

Will Sparks RHP / Fairhope, AL / 2025 Rankings  StateRank: 61 / POS: 17 RHP Will Sparks has been named the Mizuno Pitcher of the Week after a dominant performance on the mound, going 1-0 with eight innings pitched, no hits allowed, no runs, one walk, and an impressive 22 strikeouts. The South Alabama recruit was nearly untouchable, highlighted by a seven-inning no-hitter with 19 strikeouts against a strong Class 5A opponent. Sparks' outstanding efforts helped lead Fairhope to a 3-1 record for the week, propelling them back into the Class 7A top-10 polls.
