2025 CHSAA Players of the Week: Opening Week

Caleb Dameron
Prep Baseball Colorado Staff

Each week during the high school season, the Prep Baseball Colorado staff will be announcing our 'Player of the Week' award for that particular week. Numerous players from across the state continue to perform and put up numbers on a week-to-week basis, though only one athlete can take home the 'hitter' or 'pitcher' award each week. Below you'll see which players have earned our 'Player of the Week' honors this spring season.

NOTE: These submissions were provided from high school coaches and others from around our state. If you are a interested in nominating a player, please contact Marc Wagner ([email protected]).

CHSAA PLAYERS OF THE WEEK: OPENING WEEK

PITCHER OF THE WEEK:

Ethan Zufall RHP / 3B / Broomfield, CO / 2025

Zufall is a 2023 Future Games alumni, and a BYU commit who will take down the 'Pitcher of the Week' honors for Colorado's opening week of play. The #6 ranked RHP in the state's 2025 class racked up 13 strikeouts in just 5 innings against Douglas County last week, while also only allowing 1 hit, one walk, and zero earned runs. Zufall was dominant in this one and comes with a fastball in the 90s along with some swing and miss off-speeds. The athletic and strong frame on Zufall continues to develop and he is certainly one to watch closely in spring 2025.

HITTER OF THE WEEK:

Colin Metz OF / Chatfield, CO / 2025

Metz is showing off some early power this season thanks to already belting FOUR (!) homeruns over his first four games. The Chatfield senior and Dodge City commit went 9 for 15 last week and also produced 3 doubles to go with his 4 homers. Metz went 3 for 4 with a homerun in the Chargers' big win over a top ranked Legend program and then followed it up with back to back 3 for 4 days against Heritage and Eaglecrest. Metz ended up with a 3 homer day against Eaglecrest to cap off the Chargers 4-0 week, beating Eaglecrest 11-10 in a close one on the road.
