The senior at Arapahoe in Centennial probably has landed one of the Warriors’ best scholarships in years. The right-handed pitcher will be headed to Oklahoma.

And there’s a tie as well as talent.

The father of Hayes’ godfather is Dale Mitchell. His name is on the Sooners field, Dale Mitchell Park. Mitchell was a Sooners letterman in the mid-1940s who still holds OU’s career and single-season batting records.
