2027 C/UTL JACKSON BERNOSKY (GONZAGA COMMIT)
|
Jackson Bernosky C / 3B / Grandview, CO / 2027Bernosky showed why he’s a multi-positional prospect worth following with an impressive all-around showing at this year’s Future Games. Offensively, he demonstrated a clean & connected swing, allowing him to stay balanced and consistently on the barrel with intent to drive the baseball. Bernosky also mixed in a toe-tap at times to manipulate timing while he limited whiffs in the zone, controlled the strike zone with maturity, and showed the ability to drive the ball to all fields with authority. His aggressive approach translated into plenty of quality swings that stood out against premium arms. Defensively, Bernosky’s versatility adds value, with the athleticism of a 6.8 runner giving him the range to move around the infield/outfield while still offering real potential behind the plate. Bernosky showcased the ability to handle some high-end arms during the games with an 81 mph throwing velocity from the crouch. The combination of approach, barrel control, and multi-positional skill set makes Bernosky a high-follow prospect moving forward, and he is now committed to Gonzaga University to continue his athletic and academic career.

OUR Q&A:
Prep Baseball: What were your expectations about the recruiting process? What were you looking for out of a college program to continue your baseball career at?
Jackson: I really didn’t have any expectations about the recruiting process. I had a lot of mentors that told me it was important to just trust the process and your route was your route. I was looking for somewhere I could go that if baseball does not go well, I’d still have a great back up option. Also looked for somewhere I could go where I could trust the coaches and just grind out the work put in front of me.
Prep Baseball: What do you like most about the program you chose, and what were the key factors in making your decision?
Jackson: There are two big things I love about Gonzaga, and that is how their academics are and how the coaches are. I believed that these two things made a major impact in my decision.
Prep Baseball: What advice would you give to young baseball players striving to get where you are?
Jackson: I would tell them to not get greedy and just trust their own process. It is their journey, not anyone else. Just be grateful for any opportunity they get.
Prep Baseball: Did location or distance from home play a factor in your decision?
Jackson: No it did not and that is because I have always been on the road playing so I never had a thought in my mind that it would have a factor in my decision.
Prep Baseball: When did the recruiting process really start to heat up for you? Where did the school you committed to first see you play?
Jackson: It started for me on August 1st, but I can truly say it started at the Future Games. Gonzaga saw me play in the summer at the Slammers Showcase.
Prep Baseball: Was there a particular Prep Baseball tournament or showcase that helped accelerate your recruiting process? If yes, how so?
Jackson: Yes and that is the Future Games just giving me the opportunity to go play in front of all of these schools giving me a chance to play in college.
Prep Baseball: What other schools were on your short list before you made your final decision?
Jackson: Evansville and there were schools very interested in me but I just didn’t get the good vibe or like from them.
Prep Baseball: Who is the best player you have faced in your state? What about them makes for a tough opponent?
Jackson: Ethan Wachsmann. Probably just the fact he is a dawg and throws 99. I love going against him every time.
Prep Baseball: If you could steal any tool or quality from another player in the state, what would it be and who would it be from?
Jackson: Nothing really I want it to be my own path. I believe in my own abilities.
Prep Baseball: At what point in your career did you realize you were a college-caliber player and became serious about taking your game to the next level?
Jackson: Spring of my sophomore year I really felt like I excelled and showed to myself I can do that and go play.
Prep Baseball: What is the most memorable moment in your baseball career to this point?
Jackson: I would say going to the Future Games and doing my thing. It truly was the best and amazing feeling.
Prep Baseball: Preview your high school team's season for us. How do you feel your team will be?
Jackson: I think that we have a great opportunity to go deep in state. I believe with good practice and dedication we could maybe make it to the state championship.
