2018 Florida Underclass Games Spotlight: 2021 C Jaime Ferrer

On June 23rd, 2018 at Henley Field in Lakeland, FL, the top underclass high school prospects ranging from the 2020-2022 classes will participate in the Florida Underclass Games which is the premier scouting event for the 2018 summer season. Leading up to the event we will highlight each upcoming participant through their own individual spotlight which includes video, reports, and more. Today we take a look at 2021 C Jaime Ferrer of TNXL Academy FL.
Scouting Report
1/27/18- Currently stands 5-foot-10, 155 pounds. He has a lean, projectable body with a strong lower half. Defensively behind the plate during the simulated game he worked well at blocking the ball in the dirt and controlling the tempo of the game. Throws to the bag were accurate and topped out at 73 mph. Offensively everything seems to work well. Short to the ball with and effortless swing. Off the bat his exit velocity registered 86 mph. He recorded a 60-yard dash time of 7.46 seconds.
01/13/18- Currently stands at 5-foot-10, 155 pounds with a lean, athletic build. At the plate starts from a slightly open stance with a big leg kick for his load. Shows a fluid path through the zone from the right hand side with an uphill finish, showing gap-to-gap potential. As he continues to add to his frame and mature, he should see a jump in power at the plate. Registered a 77 mph exit velocity. Behind the plate he registered pop times in the 2.10-2.25 second range and his throws topping out at 71 mph down to second.
