The 2018 MLB Draft starts in a week and there have been some noteworthy performances late in the season. Last week, LHP
Antoine Kelly (Maine East HS, IL) was at his best in a region semifinal game. The long, lanky 6-foot-5, 175-pound southpaw is an imposing presence on the mound and had a demeanor full of energy, displaying confidence not previously seen. He was deliberate with a drop-and-drive delivery, using all of his momentum to drive down the mound toward the plate. His arm works quickly from a 3/4 slot and gets out front, creating angle with his length. He showed excellent command of the fastball, working in and out, keeping the ball at hitters’ knees or lower. He ranged from 90-95 mph, sitting 92-94 and popping a 95 in the sixth inning.
