Sunday was our last day in Jupiter, FL, for the World Wood Bat Championship so I spent the day bouncing around the Cardinals’ and Marlins’ spring training complex to see pitchers that hadn’t thrown yet and get final looks at hitters. Here are the highlights…

+ RHP Casey Mize (Springville HS, AL) started against 2016 RHP D.J. Roberts (Atlantic Coast HS, FL) and the Orlando Scorpions. Mize had a solid outing at the Metropolitan Baseball Classic in August, where he sat in the high 80s and was up to 92. On Sunday, he started out pitching at 88-90 mph, touching 91, but settled into the high 80s after the first inning with arm-side life.
